This just doesn't make sense to me. Holliday is an excellent football player, very underrated. He is a great 3-4 end or 4-3 tackle. Having him stand up just doesn't add up for me.
With Charlie Anderson, Quentin Moses, and maybe even Junior Glymph playing well at rush linebacker, I just don't see Holliday having the agility to play OLB unless all they want to do is rush him from a wide position, basically equivalent to a 4-3 end who occasionally drops back as a mis-direction to confuse the offense. My guess is that is at most what he will do, and even there, I am not buying he fits a need there. Unless this portends a major problem at rush linebacker that we are so needy that we need an 11 year defensive tackle vet playing there as a latecomer to the position.
Next year, I see us emphasizing OLB, WR, CB, and NT in the draft, and then hope to get backups at OT and TE later in the draft. We still need two excellent drafts.
