Holy Purdy - I Didn't Think The 49ers Would Do It

I can't argue with that, if your talking top 3... even top 4.

Mahomes
Allen
Jackson
Burrow are above Baker, but I've got Baker at 5.... maybe 6 if Jayden Daniels keeps playing like he did as a rookie. Im hesitant to put him there yet, bc we've seen so many QBs have sophomore slumps.
Baker was a top 5 QB in one out of 7 seasons. It’s common to see a QB have an outlier year only to come back down to earth. Let’s see if Baker can repeat.

What isn’t common, is for a QB to have 3 elite seasons in a row and not turn out to be an elite QB over their career. I don’t think that’s ever happened, honestly.

Every QB can make plays other QB’s can’t. So?

Yes, Tua’s injury issue is huge.

Baker is also more mobile than Tom Brady and Dan Marino, to name just two all time greats, ever were. Tua’s arm is much more accurate. So? Accuracy is way more important than arm strength.

Tua isn’t close to Baker, skills wise, he’s much better.
Yea, were never gonna agree on this, Tua is not even close to Baker in my opinion.

And accuracy is usually more important than arm strength.... IF your arm is strong enough to make all the throws and your arm is still mediocre in strength. Tuas arm is below mediocre and he can not make all the throws. Not even close to all the throws.

Who had 3 elite seasons in a row?

Tua has only had one season where he even stayed healthy, wtf are you talking about.

That's ONE good season, you can't have a "good season" when you play a fraction of the season.

If someone had just said, “I’d take Mayfield over Tua because he’s good enough and stays healthy. Whereas Tua is hurt all the time.” Most here wouldn’t have a problem with that. The problem is literally making stuff up or exaggerating Baker because they hate Tua and claiming that Baker is a better QB than Tua. That is just not objectively true.
Add the fact that Mayfield has had more time to develop as a pro.

I like Baker, but he struggled for a while before coming into his own on the bucs.

The way I would do a ranking for the second tier guys, the #5-15 guys…

It’s the superbowl, and my team is good. My QB needs to make plays but he is not CARRYING my team.

Over Baker I’d take Hurts, Herbert, Goff, Tua, Purdy, and probably a couple others… reasoning? If my team is in the superbowl then it’s a good team… Mayfield is more likely to win me a game on his own than any of these tier 2 guys… but he’s also more likely to lose the game than any of these guys too.

Boom/bust… consistency is a skill.

Just my opinion.

Here is the list of QB Seasons with over 30 touchdown passes. Im not saying Tuas 29 in 2023 isn't good but when someone is claiming Tua had had 3 "ELITE" seasons in a row, its a freaking joke.

30 TDs in a season is elite, look at the number of Qbs who have done it.... its a long ****ing list. If Tua had 3 "ELITE" seasons in a row he should be on here at least once!

Tuas ONE good season vs

1000017244.jpg

Baker last season.

If Baker were on the Dolphins, some of you would be calling him the best QB in the league!

And the **** talking about INTs??? Tua had only 3 fewer in his ONE good season! Not to mention the 12 fewer TDs.

I absolutely knew this was coming and it's exactly why it was completely ridiculous how so many people thought Tua's deal was crazy - the market is the market.

Sure, you may think Tua's deal is unjustified now but in the offseason of 2024 Tua had every reason to get the contract he did, he earned it based upon past performances and current NFL salary structure.

Good QB's make good money - hate to break it to the haters but Tua is a good QB, and he especially was in the last off-season
1 healthy year did not warrant the contract, that's obviously the point.

It was then and it has been cemented since.

Ill go one step further, to say Tuas had "THREE ELITE SEASONS IN A ROW" Is spitting in the face of Dan Marino! Who actually did have elite seasons chained together.

Claiming Tua is elite is an insult and tarnishes Dan Marinos legacy!

Tua’s arm is strong enough to make all the throws. How else has he lead the league, or been near the top, in YPA in multiple seasons?
