Homer Assessment from the Weekend...

It seemed like Justin Smith spent the entire second have attached to Brees helmet. Their building and a east coast team traveling west. Imagine Harbaugh going to the Superbowl? Then we can have 45528 threads telling us stfu he was never leaving San Fran, even though Ross's comments fromz the round table transcript suggest otherwise.

and dont forget the 34545 threads about how we can win with Matt Moore since San Fran did it with Smith who is just as good as Matt Moore.

Funny you bring up Nicks I smashed a very nice remote when we passed him up!

that kids a monster...he's got hamburger helper mitts for hands...he was who i was hoping we would take with our #25 pick in the draft that year we took vontae...my #1 choice

Wait wtf we aren't trading for Kolb?

Nah. I was bored at work the other day so i started a troll thread about how we should trade Jake long for Kevin Kolb and draft Reilly Reiff. Within a couple days it was at 25 pages lol. The nonsense i was spewing was pretty funny but what was even funnier was the reactions i was getting.

I was saying stuff like Larry Fitzgerald was an average wr and Peyton Manning was not a franchise qb. I made up this ridiculous diatribe why Kolb was a franchise qb. Honestly it was a ton of fun and i laughed my a$$ off with the responses i was getting.

Me too! I was at his bowl game his senior year that he gutted WVU and was making sick catches! I don't know why I was surprised or mad we passed him! With a fo that still thinks they are playing with leather helmets on dirt and rock fields!

No it is Moore is as good as that other 9er qb! Whats his name Montana or something like that!

Roflmao! I love how they move the standard to suit their argument!

I understand the Dolphins appear to be at the very least disorganized right now. I KNOW they ended up 6-10. However, what this weekend in the NFL showed is that no team is ever that far way from making a run in the playoffs.

I hear all the time around here about going 9-7 or 10-6 and "just getting a Wildcard" is simply being mediocre. IMO, it is all about getting in and giving yourself a chance. A chance to get some good match ups, catch a few breaks and make a run...

Look at the Fins right now...tell me they would not have a chance to beat Houston last week in the 1st round? While I believe the Pats would have beaten the Fins the following week, I would also concede that after seeing Baltimore yesterday, the Fins could have matched up with them and won a close game.

My point is that while we might feel like we are in the abyss right now, with more direction from the top, consistent QB play, a strong FA offseason and quality draft, I feel the Fins can make a run in the near future.

I agree with all you said we do not need to blow it all up, keep the assitants, keep the core players find a coach who is a good game manager/ motivates the players / offnesive minded and yes has the ability to identify core players. There are too many fans wanting to just blame someone. Only one left is Ireland. Well Ireland drafted Parcells players under Parcells direction which included Henne, Turner, Pat White and some other underperformers as well as free agents who did not make the cut. The past 2 years have been on Ireland and the drafts and free agents have not turned out that bad. The Marshalls, Dansbys, Burnetts, Pouncy, Odrick and Wake pickups have been pretty good. THose first couple of years it was Ireland finding those acorns like a Bess that was not what he had the final say so on the big picks. I guess I have been a fan just a little to long and am tired of hearing fans just wanting to blow things up for the next big thing only to see us in many cases worse off than before. We have been lucky to have owners willing to throw big names like a Johnson, Parcells and Saban. I am ready for another route. I know what some well regonized posters keep saying about Ireland and missing out of Fisher. Still I look at facts and the facts are Fisher was batting 50/50 so that did not inspire me. Its kind of like hearing about how good Sean Smith was suppose to be and is but for the life of him Sean Smith cannot intercept a ball but Vonte Davis can. Prior to Wayne H owning the team we had a cheaper owner and I certainly got tired of that. Give these owners a break and Ireland too. I like Tony by the way but he just did not get it done quic enough and his OL really cost him.

Flacco comes up small in january too often for me, you guys always complain to me about the Jets carrying sanchez but Bal has been the team carrying it's QB in Januayr. Better play from him and they would have at least been in the title game the last 2 years and probably a SB. He needs to come up big this week for them to win- he doesn't need eye popping #s but he'll have chances to make plays and he has to take advantage of them.

Flacco's post season numbers are horrendous for someone deemed a "franchise" QB. I agree with junc on this one, the Ravens D has carried the offense in the playoffs and the QB play has be mediocre at best for Baltimore. It seems like every time Flacco needs a big game he folds, IDK he reminds me a lot of a Manning brother when he was going through growing pains, Eli.

Flacco has the potential to play up or fade away, either way he better bring his A-game against Brady and New England this weekend. The Ravens D isn't the same one that won it all in 2000, they will slow Brady down but they are not going to shut out the Pats so Flacco better play good football if they hope to pull off a win. If he wants to be considered a franchise QB Flacco better win this game or his time in Baltimore might be short-lived.

Where have you been? Well already determined last week that Peyton Manning is not an elite qb because it took him 6 seasons and till his forth post season to win a playoff game!

I was talking about Eli though.

and to answer your question, I try to avoid any discussion that involves Henne/Moore is the answer, Sanchez is a better than ....., You can win without a Rogers, Manning, Brady at QB or any other garbage type thread or response that needs more than 5 pages of replies to explain a theory with more holes in it than Bonnie and Clyde.

I just dropped into this thread to remind everyone that Falcco is another average QB who is taking advantage of inflated numbers due to the pass friendly rules of the NFL these days. As you can clearly see by the true "Elite" QB's setting record after record the past two seasons the measuring stick for the term "elite" doesn't encompass a passer rating below 90 anymore and has been redefined to 4000+ yards, 25+ td's and 1/2 as many int's on average.

Anything else from year to year is average at best.

things can change so quickly in this leage- from good to bad and bad to good. Look at my team, a year ago today we beat NE and were thinking SB, this year everyone wants to fire everyone. IF Miami gets the right choice at HC(I don't know who that would be) they certainly can pull a Cincy or Detroit or maybe even better. Look at how bad the Giants looked in week 15 losing at home to a bad Skins team to fall to 7-7 and now it looks like they will got back to the SB.

I liked your post until the "pull a Cincy or Detroit". With the talent on the phins, the right HC, and a better QB, they can do much better than what you say.

Pittsburgh's not a convincing road win????

I think it'll be Pats vs. Giants again. Giants are hot, and Ravens have a lot of difficulty winning on the road this year. They lost to Jacksonville, Tennessee and Seattle on the road and their only convincing road win was against St. Louis
