There are alot of rumers and speculation. I want everyone's honest opinion. I myself believe that it takes at least a year to get back on the field. Where do you guys stand?

Well John Clayton reported on ESPN last night that Culpepper's knee is almost 100% and that he is already practicing 3-step, 5-step and 7-step drops. Culpepper may also be healthy enough to participate in one-a-days during training camp. IF Clayton is correct in his assesments then I think Daunte should be ready by opening day.

I think there is a misconception about returning from the type of knee injury Culpepper suffered last year. It's not that it takes a year to return to the field but it takes about 18 months to return to full strength.

John Clayton also mentioned that Dante is also about nine pounds lighter, which puts less pressure on the knees and I would imagine, speeding up the recovery process.

Honestly, NO ONE KNOWS!!!

We don't have a crystal ball. We don't know when Daunte will return!

No one is responding to this thread because (1) we are not clairvoyant; (2) we have not examined Mr. Culpepper's knee; (3) we are not doctors.

Anthony D, I share your concerns regarding Pep's return, but nobody on this board can really have an informed opinion. Its really simple: we don't know!

i would imagine thaqt helps, not a huge amount but a little, thats the thing though, he needs to keep doing little things to put him in the best possible situation.

Im hopeful hes ready for opening day but i have a feeling he will officially start the second week.

How many of us are doctors and have examined Culpepper? Geez. Our can we stand on this without knowing anything??????

It all looks good so far. Don't be suprised if you see him practice some in TC and take the first team snaps while running the drills. I doubt that he will be allowed to play in a preseason game because I don't know if Saban would want Culpepper to put any kind of pressure and risk his knee in a meaningless game.

Honestly, even if he is ready by the opener, they will rest him minimum 3 weeks...

I'd imagine Saban will be as careful as possible and will not rush Culpepper in by 2 to 3 games earlier than need be. Daunte could probably start opening day since he is NOT a RB or WR, in which case THEY would have to wait longer. But he's a QB, probably won't scramble much at first - and could go earlier.

We'll see. I think by the 3rd game (after the bye week) he'll be starting. Joey gets the 1st two starts.

I think he could play in late preseason. The problem that I anticipate, is that his knee will have problems with swelling, and that he'll spend a lot of time on the probable or questionable list.

Well As I look into my Crystal ball and my girlfriend consults the Ouija board are combined effort indicates that he'll be 100% at the exact same time Coach and the Doctors say he's 100%.

Recovery from an Injury like the one he sufferd will take some time but he really seems to be doing well, Untill I hear it from Coach or are team Doctor I wouldn't give in to some one elses best guess.
