hoops offseason do's and dont's for jeff ireland and joe philbin

Hard to believe Clements will come here if the Packers offer him the OC position.

But otherwise I like this list. I'd also include moving John Jerry to RT after his surprisingly good turn at LT. DeCastro makes a ton of sense at RG or LG with Vernon Carey and his big contract being politely shown the door. We need to have someone other than Pouncey who can pull in the run game.

I would let Langford walk and keep our personnel in the 3-4. Soliai has got to be signing to a long term deal, though, whichever kind of defense you want to play. The guy's got excellent athleticism for a guy that size, better than Wilfork who hasn't been bad in four man fronts this year. Pay the man. He's a beast. Upshaw makes a lot of sense if Coples (as expected) goes before 8 or 9.

Fleener in the 2nd is probably a pipe dream especially after this year of incredible tight end performances.

agreed on jerry who has pretty good feet for his size...said that about him when i watched him at the senior bowl and combine...he has right tackle feet all day long...

solia is probably the guy you want to keep but i'm thinking he's gonna be hard to resign since we played hard ball with him this last offseason...langford sadly probably should let walk if given the choice and absolutely in a 43

fleener you're right...after he lights up the combine like i think he will at that size probably a pipe dream...but someone with excellent length and athleticism...not a slug...

What excites you in having bowles as our DC? Maybe it's me but I've never saw anything from him that screams innovative defensive mind. Agree on just about everything else though. Is it a bud light nite again?

Good plan hoops...I'm down with that and I think Bowles could do a nice job as DC plus the familiarity of the defensive staff staying in place will help with continuity.

I do have one crazy idea...instead of DeCastro, which if we sign Flynn I would be OK with, what about possibly trading down a few spots and grabbing Kendall Wright to try and build a receiving corp similar to what they have in Green Bay. If we can get an extra 2nd out of it we could use both 2nd round picks in a trade up for Coby Fleener.

Not a bad plan at all shoops, not exactly how i would go about it, but pretty darn solid.

GO PHINS~!

Read my mind. Lol. Wouldn't mind at all trading down for wright contingent we got our qb.

What about his role would give him the opportunity to show an innovative defensive mind, even if he had one?

Figuring out which position coach would make a good coordinator always strikes me as a fool's errand, anyway. Who the hell knows? All I know if Bowles is regarded as a top up and coming coach and that seems good to me. I wouldn't be surprised to see him get one of these head coaching jobs after the Dolphins basically chose Philbin over McCoy because Philbin was open to keeping him. Somehow that kind of fail would be very much in character for this team.

Wright is a heck of a talent. I don't think you're getting him if you trade down. Some people like him even better than Blackmon (I could easily see him go to the Jags in round one).

I still like trying to trade down a couple and getting Decastro because any team can use an all pro guard plus an extra 2nd gives us a better chance at getting Fleener at TE.
