I would too...as a matter of fact I don't even like Jeffery or Floyd. Jeffery doesn't look explosive enough to me and Floyd is a straight up head case. That kid will be suspended before his 3 season in the league.

And if Jax takes Coples that high then someone else is dropping to us. I bet Mularkey tries to draft an O-lineman.

Wright is the 2nd best WR in this class.

followed by floyd imo...i just can't get over watching the way floyd gets off the los and wins against press coverage...it will absolutely transfer to the pro game imo

Do bring on tom clements as the offensive coordinator

Do promote todd bowles as the defensive coordinator

Do go get qb matt Flynn in free agency making him the big offseason splash of 2012…give him a contract along the lines of kevin kolbs 7 year $63 mil deal $21 mil guaranteed…make the signing bonus and early cap hit hefty so in a few years you give yourself an easy out cap wise should he fail…

This should be obvious given the contract but do give matt Flynn the starting job heading into week 1… there should be no competition when you’re investing this kind of money

Do realize that you have no shot at getting to Andrew luck with the #1 pick in trade and are up against getting in position for rg3…

Don’t trade multiple #1’s and another high pick or player to get in position for rg3…just don’t

Do release/let walk the following asap marc Colombo, Jason taylor, chad henne, Philip merling

Do decide to release if not both one of paul solia or kendall Langford…bottom line we could use the money towards one or the other in the matt Flynn contract…if it’s a 43 defense imo you let Langford walk who is a 34 de all the way and will command a contract in the range of 5 years $35 mil around $20 mil guaranteed…paul solia I’d say is in the 5 year $40 mil range $20 mil guaranteed…just doesn’t make fiscal sense to keep both and pay Flynn…so at minimum one good football player must go

Do after acquiring matt Flynn use the top draft pick on one of the following players…quentin coples Courtney Upshaw david decastro…with qb fixed for the short term at least go with the bpa that fills a need…decastro is widely considered a once a decade type interior oline prospect upshaw has the hips change of direction power in his hands and short area acceleration you want in a 34 solb…coples imo is more a 43 fit at de but he has some shift inside rush capabilities and is gap responsible and poa strong with pass rush upside…and he’s got ideal measurable…and if we do go to a 43 the glaring need on d is absolutely a de…

Do use a top 3 round pick on a seam busting te threat…someone with height who can beat man to man coverage and has a high catch radius with top end speed…coby fleener anybody should he get to our 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] rounder would look awfully good in aqua and orange to me…

Do find another rb who can compete with Daniel Thomas and in the event reggie bush gets injured come in and contribute right away…vick ballard of miss st and isiah pead of cinci fit the bill for me and I think both are pick 120 range prospects

Do realize that with matt moore signed for one more season at a peanuts like $3 mil number this is the year to commit real money to the qb position with the best available free agent addition possible matt Flynn…do like I said prior put a lions share of the guaranteed money in the 2012 cap number so in the event Flynn does fail you still can have cap room to worst case sign moore again as a free agent provided the moneys right…and also leave yourself the room in 2013 cap wise to use that top pick in what looks like right now at least will be a loaded qb crop

Do realize that with this new cba matt Flynn guaranteed money wise is not likely to command any more guaranteed money than any qb that you would use a top 5 pick on in the draft…and unlike the draft pick Flynn has nfl production already…high end at that

Do grow a pair...

Do not stray from my plan...

Do contact me if you need help…ha ha

Not that you needed it, but ... + Rep.

GREAT post!

i didn't see wrights name on the senior bowl list and i don't like it...i think he would have killed it in drills...why not come there and light it up

alright harry...here's what i saw on the flynn lions game tape and let me say i was impressed...

the first thing that stood out to me and was very apparent was he was under a ton of wide edge rush pressure...the tackles were having fits with the guys on the edge...left and right side...a bunch of times he stepped up to avoid the edge rusher just like he should giving himself time to complete the pass or scan the field more...one play in particular really stood out to me and really showed me that he has an innate feel for the pocket and pressure...

immediately from the jump i wanna say it was a shotgun snap but don't quote me on that the right de cliff avril i wann say beat the right tackle like a step child off the edge and was coming right for flynn flynn felt it stepped up a step or so but then he felt the inside rush coming from his backside a dt and lateral stepped a couple steps to the left eyes down field the whole time before dropping a ball into jordy nelson for a like 18 yard gain with defender steaming straight into his grill...its one thing to feel the edge rusher ok fine but when you step up never take your eyes off down field and feel the interior backside pressure thats another thing and shows me you have a feel in the pocket...a calm sidestep or two and then not drop your head and burrough forward like a chad henne would do anytime he felt pressure but the presence and awareness to continue looking down the field for options despite a clean full steam defender about to take your head off...

the fumble he did have that was lost and it was one of two turnovers for him on the game he tried to step up but stepped up into the rush which was pretty much a jailbreak and lost the ball...that one imo was on the oline...

the bad decision ball i saw was when he telegraphed and i mean telegraphed a quick slant ball to jordy nelson where the db who was even in off man 8 yards off the ball alphonso smith was able to jump the ball and route and pick it...when a db comes from that far off on a quick route like that you know the qb gave away the cookies...

up next the good stuff...

forgot to say that the int was really the only ball i saw where i said bad decision...and not really it was a bad decision he just gave it way...the kind of thing he could learn from...he had a few other balls where his throwing arm was hit which were incomplete or he had a ball that fluttered to the sideline because of pressure in his legs and he could not step thru with his hips...ball was still complete on the outside but out of bounds...anyways

what i saw was good timing accuracy and ball placement and velocity when he needed it...i thought he made the proper reads and went to the right guys over and over...yeah he banged em for some big plays off screens against blitzes but hell aaron rodgers does the same thing also...so that counts in my book...when he had a shot he took it...when the lions dropped into soft zones he had the patience to take what was there underneath...saw the mismatches presented by coverage and attacked them... i saw 3 5 and 7 step drops all with balance and solid mechanics not just shotgun snaps...

another thing that was apparent...jordy nelson was destroying press coverage...i mean eating them up...

couple plays that stood out...free play on the offsides by the lions flynn knows he can take a shot has nelson one on one on the go down the sideline lets er rip she's high and to the outside at the pylon just like you'd script it nelson uses his body goes up and high points it in the front edge of the endzone for 6...yeah thats a nice play by nelson but thats also a hell of a throw and recognition at the los by a guy coming off one week of first team reps...

comes to the los in the red zone maybe the 12 yard line sees nelson has off man coverage on the outside rises from under center fires to nelson at the los who stiff arms the db and walks into the endzone...the kind of play i've seen rodgers make for tds countless times...

comes to the los this time from the 4 yard line sees finleys flexed out against man coverage rises fires a perfectly placed back shoulder throw to finley who catches it before the db even knows the ball was gone for 6...another rodgers like throw

he converted 3rd down after 3rd down...honestly outside of that back shoulder throw that rodgers is so famous for to the wrs at any point on the field which i didn't see flynn attempt but that could have been because greg jennings who runs back shoulder routes maybe the best in football was not on the field i didn't see the packer o skip a beat with flynn in there instead of rodgers...looked to me like a poor mans version of rodgers...and thats way better than anything we've had the last decade

keep in mind...this is coming off a week of first team reps...its damn impressive

Hoops: Do you think Thomas can be a good back in a WC offense? Also, I am interested to hear what you think about Hartline's role in this type of O.

wouldn't surprise me if fleener runs in the 4.5's...i saw him run down a guy after an interception who had a head start like he was standing still...i don't think he plays 4.5 fast but i think he's gonna test 4.5 fast...i still think though top 10 given he's not much of a blocker is too rich...but i bet he wows em at the combine
If Fleener runs a 4.5, does he get out of the 1st? Just don't see him there for Phins in the 2nd if he does.

I do think Miami is the only team that makes sense taking the chance on Flynn now with Philbin on board but man that will be one risky signing and make or break the Philbin era. It will say a lot about Flynn if the Dolphins don't make a strong push for him.
