hoops scoops...fins falcons

Hoops, very overly negative. I couldn't wait to read your write up and all it did was bring me down. It's the FIRST pre-season game and that needs to be taken into consideration before you rip our LB core to shreds. I think you will be happily surprised by their play this year. The new LB Coach knows exactly what he has and doesn't have and will scheme accordingly. How can you rip Misi in his first real game at Mike? You don't know what he was coached to do or not do. Take it easy and try to lighten up. The games don't even count for now. Bradys' gonna murder us on opening day. He didn't murder us last year and we're a better team now than we were then with better coaches on both sides of the ball. You can take your finger off the panic button! We still have time to add players so all the cards aren't even dealt yet. When the games count and we're getting our butts hammered I'll worry but I'm not about to flip out in pre-season. I think you need to let out some line.
Some like to sugar coat things, Hoops doesn't and that's what I like about his analysis. And on top of that, his stuff is rarely, if ever at all agenda driven which makes it as close to reality you`re ever going to get... We all know he really likes Tannehill but that doesn't stop him from ripping him when it is deserved... So yeah if you want roses and champagne on every player on the Fins squad, you might want to look elsewhere in the future...

i think it's probably gonna be wilson moving to safety and taylor coming in to play as the 3rd corner...whether or not he plays the boundary or the inside though i don't know yet...imo that's probably the best bet...i don't want right now off what i have seen will davis as the inside corner...cause i just havent gotten answers yet on some things that are critical on the inside...

if aikens gets the starting safety job brady in week 1 will torch that dude...he's way too green at safety to ever consider starting..you can tell his heads spinning with the move let alone all the things the pats would show him

i'd start wilson at safety and hope he doesn't have plays like he did last night filling...promote taylor as the nickle...it's do you move finnegan inside that's the real question...him or taylor gets kicked inside...i trust taylor to tackle more than davis and i know he has some physical abilities and quick acceleration...that and i don't think ball instincts are as critical on the inside...there's more catch the ball underneath and rally to the ball and tackle on the inside...and it's not like taylor lacks long speed either...or strength

Other than James and possibly Landry down the line, not seeing any rookies getting a start anwhere. Its all support and special teams for those guys or PS. Thats just the philbin way.

Kovacs would see safety before Aikens IMO. much to your shagrin hoops.

btw, did you notice that Ellerbe and Misi were lined up close to one another early? I thought it caused a little traffic jam myself.

It's not meant to be overly negative I just call them like I see them...I try to look at it from an opposing ocs point of view watching our tape and what stands out is the poor play of the lb core...sure scheme can help hide some things but what do you think the other teams coordinator is doing...he's gonna scheme to attack weaknesses...

And I don't know what you mean by I don't know what misi was coached to do or not to do...I know the responsibilities of the mike I can watch him zone drop I can see him cover a man etc and I know a difference maker when I see one...I also know that he's learning a new position and take that into consideration but his physical weaknesses at mike are not gonna change...You may scheme to try and hide some of that and tax other guys as a result or limit what you can run as a defense but it doesn't change the fact those weaknesses are there

Now that you've completed the negatives about the game.. I'm waiting for the positives now.

Tannehill, OC, 1st string OL.... This is the Miami Dolphins, your not going to fill a post long like that with positives, not there yet...

Edit: Great to see other MTL fans on the board! cheers!

I also did not see a difference maker in Misi. I didn't expect too, it's just too early. The first drive too me was worth the price of admission. Tannehill 6 for 6 with some really well thrown balls. I thought Miller ran it hard and the o-line did some better work than we've seen in a while. The new Lazer offense looks very cool so far. I'm so glad Sherman's gone. A lot of the young guys on both sides of the ball did well, great to see Brandon Gibson playing. All I'm saying is I don't think the game deserved an obituary!!! Having said all that, Hoops is one of the big reasons I come to and enjoy this site. One of the most astute posters on any of these fan sites!!

The whole 1st team offense was a positive in this game. Don't have to say much because that's what you expect from this QB and these WRs. He did touch on the oline and was very positive about what he saw but also knowing atlanta isn't much of a defense.

The one thing I don't remember you touching on is miller. Did miller run any stronger to you?

Looked a little stronger to me. That run that he took to the 5 yd line showed some strength.

Good job....some of the negativity seems a bit over the top at times.....or at least out of balance, especially for a 1st preseason game.

Maybe some, but the LBers looked as awful as the OLine did last season at this time. That did not change throughout the entire season. At this point in time I don't have much hope for a Lber make over.

There's not much I look for in Pre season other than knowing where you are supposed to be,
and fundamentals.

Sorry...just saw this...miller didn't get much run but I will say if it's true he's added weight for contact he sure hasn't sacrificed any of his quick acceleration in the process...remains to be seen if he will run thru contact more this year...and show better vision in the open field...as a pass receiver I trust him...see no reason that he won't be solid in that regard and make plays...pass pro though I wouldn't depend on him stoning blitzers

I'm excited about this team. The offense is looking so much better. The o-line talent and fit wise is far and away better than last year. Center is good to go when pouncey returns. Both tackles looking good, colledge looking really tough. The other guard spot we'll see but we can hide one bad player on the line. With clay and Sims both out the blocking and the versatility that clay brings, along with Moreno hopefully healthy and blocking well we should finally get to see rt's real potential. I'm loving the versatilty and athleticism.this offense has. Throw in the lazor effect, moving Wallace around alot, and having hartline, Gibson and Landry all moving around running goof routes and having sure hands, this team is looking promising. My only real worry is the o-line maintaining their play when **** gets real. Which it certainly will in week 2. Hurry back pouncey! **** week 1 we have to have you back by week 2!!
