what a gut punch...let's get to it

qb lacked eye discipline yesterday at times...int on 3rd and 12 exactly about lack of eye discipline in his drop had he just held the dbs with his eyes hes got jarvis landry on the out cut past the sticks instead the under db comes off his coverage and jumps the ball for a pick...i expect more from a now 3rd year qb...eye discipline must be consistent...
that picks really a function of down and distance as it is anything else the 2nd and 19 that lamar miller put us in was just freaking brutal...that's called no situational awareness

2nd pick is another example of why i want brian hartline gone after this season...throwing balls in the air vertical where he has to go make a play at or above his head is a waste of time...i'm so tired of wrs that play small...still tannehill even if the coverage says to take the shot there has to know that is brian hartline and look elsewhere...team needs a wr and tight end with size and can bail a qb out on a 50/50 ball something fierce...the only reason that wr bubble screen to hartline went for any yardage is cause the pack never expected hartline to have the toughness and the willingness to catch in the middle of traffic and take that shot at the 2nd level...and of course he went to damn ground as soon as he got to the second level...

qb played well in the 2nd half no real issues there...still hasnt put together 4 quarters of high end play...

i have to get after the oc a little bit today...played scared on the last drive 3rd and 9 pitch which the pack were all over we punt you know the rest but the play prior they have clean edge blitzers are there no sight adjustment hots in this offense i dont see any calling of things out and wr adjustments on routes??? not to mention the first half the turnover on downs on the goalline can tanny not check out of plays that are doomed...the announcer called it right the pack had the #s on that 4th down and goal play inside to shut down the run why the hell aren't we checking out??? whats the point of coming out of the huddle fast and lining up if its not gonna be about seeing what the defense shows you and checking out at times??? i get it the inside zone has many options off of it but you showed it 3 times on that goaline set god dang

pack and the bears next week selling out to stop the inside zone run had many favorable matchups on the outside one on ones at least didnt take advantage or really even attack them...

throw back screen to the tight end off hard action to the other side its dion sims he gains 5 yards on a play that should go for chunk yardage if we had a real mismatch tight end...if i was a balloon watching that play the air would have deflated with how i felt watching that personnel option on that play

mike wallace dropped a post route in the first half worried about inside safety contact that likely goes for 6 had he just run thru the damn ball...

bright spot jarvis landry who played and plays as tough as they come in a 200 lb package...we need more of that

we paid the price today for playing scared on offense like we used to pay the price under other ocs and head coaches against legit damn qbs...exactly the same...you play not to lose instead of playing to win against these level qbs and they will cut your heart out...

defense kept us in the game in the first half picked up the qb and the offense...have to give them that...

by far the biggest goat in my eyes yesterday was none other than cortland freaking finnegan...what in the hell was he doing??? he was giving davante adams cushion like he was dez freaking bryant on everything allowing under catches all over the place and trying to tackle high at the shoulders...dude made me sick with his play...your 5 ft 10 185 lbs soaking wet wrap up the hips and drive thru...i want miami out of that money after this season cut weight...that last fake spike and throw the only thing he cant do is allow the wr to get out of bounds come up force him inside to his help and tackle and they may get off a final desperate snap attempt as the clock expires or they may not get a play off period...instead he gives away the boundary and they get out of bounds at the 4 with 6 seconds left...brutal...get rid of finnegan after this year

ahhh small dbs playing small showed up all over the place yesterday...grimes gave it his all against nelson that's called a physical mismatch but any time grimes didnt get help rodgers went after him...absolutely no fear...

dline lost contain on rodgers to the outside a few times paid for it just about every time...lbs let him get outside of them misi especially

some blown assignments reshad jones blew a red zone td where he had under bracket coverage on nelson...

liked the mccain on the field in the sub show gap blitz presnap and drop out and spy the qb...nice adjustment by the dc...

god only knows why we called that time out on 4th and 10 for the pack with all the momentum in our favor on that last drive...brutal...gave them a chance to set up the play they want with that level qb...can't believe we were that stupid...

philip wheeler gave up the last td and frankly if you are on the field in the sub as a lb you have to be able to handle a pedestrian tight end option like quarless better than that for a short time where you know the ball must come out fast cause of the pressure...wheeler butchered that snap

side judge missed a false start on one of the pack scoring drives by the right tackle was a big deal but we also got away with a hold on james on a nice gain where he spun the guy to the ground...

up next even bigger wr and tight end options against our smurf dbs...better hope jay cutler pays more attention to the ladies in the stands than he does the game

All good points, plenty of blame to go around on this one, but in my eyes the biggest of the turd sandwiches was served up by the coaching staff. OC, DC and HC. The offensive play calling on the final drive (I'm being generous by calling it a drive) was atrocious, the defensive scheme was terrible, I actually felt sorry for Wheeler, and the time out :bobdole: I've defended Philbin in the past, but this was BRUTAL. Oh well, **** it...on to Chicago...

Jay Cutler won't be paying attention to the ladies in the stands...game is in Chicago.

How much longer will it be before Landry takes over for Hartline? Seems to me that he's the only WR we have that knows how to high point a ball.

There were some coaching issues and some playcalling issues, but I dont think either of them cost us the game. We had plenty of opportunities to win and we just couldn't do it...we didnt come away with points on the 1st half 4th and goal, Finnegan didn't tackle the WR in bounds on the fake spike, bad punt coverage before the final drive, time of possession, turnovers, ect. - just bad overall execution. But we lost a very close game to the best QB in the league and Green Bay will likely be playing for a championship this year, and if we play like we did today, even with our flaws we can beat Chicago and Jax imo.

al capone is rolling over in his grave on that one...

this teams got some issues in red zone offense that are coming to light...charles clay is getting bracketed the oc is not doing a good enough job of moving him around and we have exactly zero other size options or options really than dion sims and thats about working off pa when they forget about him more than anything...you know you are really bottom barrelling it when you got to resort to trying to make plays with brian hartline in the end zone...who you can set your watch to a quick slant every time just about...toobad he can't run a quick inside step and then fade to the boundary against nosy dbs...but we all know he can't

miamis lack of catch radius and skill at tight end and wr is showing up ugly...get a real tight end this offseason with seam size and large catch radius so when you do scheme to get him one on one he doesnt have to win early in the route you can throw jump balls to etc...same for wr...this stuffs brutal

our db size is showing really ugly at corner...grimes is off balance and tossed against physical play with size and finnegan sucks...he'll only get worse and hold your nose bad the more size he faces...jamar taylor or will davis or high round physical corner pick need is evident...hello ekpre olumu

Chicago has Marshall and another tall receiver. It is going to be the same mismatch with them pushing finny and Grimes all over the field. Same with Watkins when we played Buffalo. We are exposed.
Chicago's Forte is playing well and so is Cutler. Mark down another L for next week.

They seem to really like Landry in the slot and I think he fits better there, but Ill be damned if Matthews isn't a better fit for this offense on the outside than Hartline. We need out of that contract this offseason

I would prefer to see Matthews take Hartline's job and keep Landry in the slot mostly.

Hoops, if you are going to mention the slant to hartline and say we don't have catch radius wr. You should mention how pathetic the throw was, and how wide open clay was in the flat.

I agree that there were plenty of plays missed on the field, but the bottom line is when the game was on the line the coaching staff but the team in a position to fail. Rodgers makes that TD throw 9 out of 10 times against that look no matter who is out there. The fact that it was Phillip Wheeler only magnifies an already colossal **** up. I knew the game was over as soon as I saw the formations...I'm sure you and 80% of this forum did also.

ball was too far inside to hartline for sure...i will have to watch it again to see how his route looked cause the o is throwing it to a spot...my initial look though yeah the qb placed the ball poorly...but hartline running a soft route and losing early is ALWAYS possible

progression wise hartline is likely higher up than clay in the flat on that play...especially if they showed presnap rolled coverage to clay

that bears tight end will eat us up also...the size of those options in chicago i mean its pitch and catch next week if cutler has time...and he will

I agree. Terrible matchups next week for against their receivers and TE. Forsett is no slouch either. Marc Trestman will own Joe and Kevin Coyle. Brilliant offensive mind.

Clay was wide open on the out to the flat! I kept asking WV and SLK if I was seeing things!?!?!? Damn beer! But no he was wide open the LB bit on Trashline! Next play on read option run was stuffed, but no one went out to cover Wallace! Watch his reaction after the play. Seemed to me the first half was very scripted like say a PowerPoint presentstion. Second half they went away from it and mixed it up.

The coaching staff should be thinking hard about possibly giving Taylor some more reps. Davis is not there yet, that we already saw.

Maybe that is why the qb looks so robotic, and refuses to come off his first read (elite pre snap reads lol). If they are holding him back, there isn't much left to lose. Take the training wheels off, let him sink or swim.
