so here we are 3-5 and 8 more weeks before this dreadful 2015 campaign comes to an end...I don't know about you guys but I'm counting the days until it's over...only question that remains this year is just how high in the draft will we pick...top 12 seems like the floor...so how exactly did we get here?

miami came out of the 2014 season with 2 massive holes on the roster oline and mike lb...miami at the halfway point of the 2015 season has the exact same personnel holes...absolute failure by the front office...dennis hickey mike tannebaum take a bow...you win the award for biggest losers...from udfa mike lb draft picks with 2 deep and special teams upside to warning shots every time the damn team was in pads in training camp and standing pat while other options were out there on the oline...thanks for taking personnel incompetence to another level

coaching staff...incompetence everywhere....name a position coach on offense or defense that elevated the play of his unit...there aren't any...

bill lazor...let's see...no tempo no audible or check out ability no vertical depth in the passing route combos...when i see us work play action to take a shot and the goal is to run vertical clear outs so we can hit a intermediate crosser behind it in the vacated carry coverage hole or the slot on a 15 yard out cut that's when I know that this offense by design lacks vertical concepts...our offense is designed more to stretch the field horizontally than vertically...we want to outflank the opposition...

it's not all on the staff...but It's their hand picked players so they own the lion share of it...

position player wise mike lb is killing us...Miami is just so easy to exploit at the mike...kelvin sheppard is caught inside or late and as result reached at the 2nd level on virtually every snap...we are embarrassingly bad at inside lb...no range no instincts no clue...been what 4 years now same damn thing? take a look at the mike in that buffalo game tape...this is the primary reason this defense gets raw dogged every week...the mike lb play and options make this d not fixable...the recipe for success vs our d is out...been out for years now...the waiting in the wings option Zach vigil takes 13 point turns...Miami is barren at mike

on the oline take your pick...every week someone grades out worst in the league at a position...dallas Thomas jamil douglas Jason fox...when Thomas and douglas were starting at guard together the first quarter of the season Miami should have just waived the white flag...jamil douglas at right guard was an abomination...this team got 2 snaps with the ideal starting 5 (which should have been the lineup from the damn get go if this staff had a freaking clue) albert, Thomas, pouncey, turner, james before attrition set in and our lack of depth showed itself again...

so here we are...hopeless and limping into the 2nd half of the season...and here we will stay...so what do we do? nothing we can do right now...we gonna ride this nails on a chalkboard season out...

but if there's nothing else this team should do a few things this offseason...

start by firing the entire coaching staff...yep every last one of them....oc dc all position coaches and yes interim hc dan Campbell...Campbell has too much of a connection to our existing players and thinks frankly they are too damn good...sorry boss but personnel holes don't get overcome by motivation over the long haul and your in game situational management took me back to the sparano years...defer to Darren rizzi? all I needed to see..walk the plank

bring in an oc that doesn't neuter the qb with his scheme...first question any oc should be asked in an interview hell on the phone even prior is will you give the qb the freedom to not only adjust or call protections but to "kill" calls at the los based off what he sees and check out...if the answer is no Miami should promptly end the conversation...no thanks...

there's only 2 teams that employ this all motion based coverage id scheme and the other philly who we will see sunday employs the use of tempo as in no huddle and more vertical route concepts in the passing game...philly gets after you with sheer play volume as much as anything else...the real similarities with our o are in the back out of the backfield in the passing game to the flats and with some of the horizontal out flanking

it shouldn't be hard to find an oc to employ a dummy snap count and some motion coverage based id system with more vertical concepts in the passing game ...nor should It be much of a transition for the qb...hell it's what he ran under Sherman his first 2 years in Miami and all thru college...and tannehill showed those first 2 years he is FULLY capable of iding and accounting for blitzers setting up his protections and changing calls at the los...let the damn qb drive please...

show me a pocket based young 5 year or less qb playing very good ball and I will show you one that employs these things..an offense that allows the qb to check out at the los and employs a vertical based pass game and a quality oline in both phases...not even talking about a defense that keeps them in games...which masks some qb deficiencies

qb tiers you say? Philip rivers is a cusp of tier 1 qb by all accounts who is sitting at 2-7 because he has no defense no oline and no running game...the only difference between what he has in san diego and what tannehill does in Miami in that regard is he's allowed to check out at the los and calls the protections and he's 6 years older...

finally picket outside the team training facility DEMANDING a top 40ish pick mike lb addition in this coming draft...quality mikes don't come free in free agency you got to draft them...if there's a 3 down one with instincts range and coverage ability top 20 is their floor...2 down pick 40 range is where you need to be...and we will be there...above all else though make sure you draft instincts or it won't make a lick of difference...you want to continue to waste suhs impact let teams continue to be allowed to force him to play front side contain and murder you off misdirection...it's easy money

mike lb options that last into the 3rd round usually have character issues that Miami won't take a chance on or lack athleticism and range...don't let it get to that...

there's other things that need addressing like cb and de but these are the main reasons this teams playing for a draft slot in week 10

ok...back into the shadows I go...8 more weeks of misery

Thank you....thank you...thank you.

If there is one thing I've been wondering alone for a while now was why I stopped hearing Tannehill audible out of plays or calling at the LOS. He used to and now he doesnt. Makes no sense why anyone would take that option away from him.

You're a breath of fresh air to read. This site has become almost unbearable to read with all the bashing on Tannehill here. You'd think considering what we've had here at qb since Marino we would all be great full but there truly is no pleasing everyone.

Again. Thanks for your post. I always look forward to reading your stuff.

From your writing to the coaching Gods ears.....

VG run down and agree on almost all. Mike is a huge problem but, did not see any good options we could have had. OL is a big problem, and there were only a couple of available options, with no way of knowing that they had interest in coming here. From what I've read, we made a good offer to Mathis and he chose Denver. My biggest problem was not signing a DB when there were like 4 available. We passed and have $10M sitting in the cap space bank. Lucky us.

I agree on ALL new coaches but, have to wonder how many of the top one's would want to come here under Ross and Tannenbaum. I would not other than for a boatload of money, and even then I'm not sure.

I agree with you analysis but not with your corrective actions.
This season is over we are just waiting for the final game to end it.

Good job.... Miami has so many issues but.... the glaring ones were ignored once again.....different year same Toilet....

We all knew that OL Depth was the killer. It and the run D were the causes of the collapse last yr.

I was not thrilled about the signing of Suh but thought at the very least; it might fix the run D. Swing & a miss. I agree w/ Hoos about the lack of a playmaker at MLB.

As far as coaching, I had a feeling that Dan C was all rah rah and once emotion wears off; bad things happen. In the phins case, things went back to they way they usually are. The scheme on O (particularly the OC) is irritating. It doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure that RT has to be used in the pistol formation to take advantage of his mobility and lessen the pressure on the OL.

Hoos is completely right about what the OC needs to do;
1) bring in an oc that doesn't neuter the qb with his scheme, 2) give the qb the freedom to not only adjust or call protections but to "kill" calls at the los based off what he sees and check out, & 3) motion based coverage, use of tempo (no huddle) and more vertical route concepts in the passing game

You would think that Lazor in his time w/ Joe Gibbs and Mike Holmgren as well as Saunders in his time with Coryell & Martz could concoct the ideal scheme. Again, wrong.

I'm unaware of the OL coming out this yr. So, I won't even go down the road for possible upgrades. I did say in the preseason they needed to start Douglas & Turner and let them go through a baptism of fire this season.

That said. What about Frank Reich as the Next HC? Then, as possible replacements (day 2 of the '16 draft) for Moore and legit competition for RT.... Everett Golson, Dak Prescott, or Kevin Hogan (Stanford).

I blame Tannenbaum for the offseason, since it's become clear that Hickey only has control over the draft, if that. But fire both and we'll call it even.

You're making too much sense for anyone in our FO to understand. The problem starts at the top with Ross though. He never cleans house. He will fire one guy but keep the other so we never really get a fresh clean start. I agree, untill he totally cleans house we will continue to be stuck at 8-8 year after year.

This may (possibly) be the year everyone is blown out, maybe even some of the scouting department. There are a few people who aren't going anywhere for a while though, and they reside in the FO. (Mike T, Aponte).

Love Mike T, hate him, or anywhere in between he gets a chance to start the organization from top to bottom no half measures.

No idea if we get any more success or not but Mike T came on board, albeit a little late, and he was part of the decision makers who rolled with the Oline and LB's etc has to be a concerning.

Sadly I have no hope for our beloved Dolphins winning again until these two guys are out of the picture. Many of us can see the issues and have for a while but those two guys for whatever reason do not.

Cleaning house includes Tannenbaum or we will continue to suck for years

The whole thing wasa flaming bag of dog **** tied up in a bow when they announced Philbin was returning. We were doomed from that point regardless.
