frankly i don't think that wr is in play early in this draft especially with the news that brandon gibson is two months ahead of schedule with his rehab but if it is i hope it's a big body with some rac ability...allen robinson is a 6 ft 2 1/2 220 lb wr...is he worth pick #50 and does he fit what miami wants in a wr and does he play smart and id coverage and run routes accordingly??? let's find out...

the first thing you notice is the size...big wr here good body for the nfl and contact...willing and able in the run game to block down the field and finish...

i swear it looks like i'm watching brandon marshall in denver with the way penn state used him and his skillset as far as catching the ball at or behind the los and letting him provide some short area make you miss...not as tall as b marsh and what i'm seeing looks more like the poor mans version...run after the catch ability and open field play stand out there's no way around it...get the ball in this guys hands...it's too bad none of our current wr core are any good at blocking in the quick screen game...lack of top end speed also stands out just like with brandon marshall...not as physical as marshall at this stage but very similar i'd say and also like brandon marshall hands can be suspect at times...will drop easy ones...

like brandon marshall wins quickly to the inside for pitch and catch slant route opportunities...doesn't sit down in zone all that well continues to work slowly across the field when he should sit and present his numbers to the qb not sure i can say if he id's coverage all that well or runs routes accordingly off of it...

will not separate from dbs down the field will have a lot of dbs in his hip pocket the further down the field he goes will have to win with his size and his leaping ability and by leaning on dbs and using his hands to create body position...i'd probably feel a little better about that if he was a little taller...although that 39 inch vertical sure helps me...still b marsh has an inch and a half on this kid...

route running looks pretty average...rounds off his routes at times...not a lot of burst off the los or out of his cuts...quick acceleration doesnt really show all that much but it may be deceiving...

misjudges the ball in flight at times vertical...needs to work back to the ball more when it's underthrown...also shows the ability to go up and high point the football...so i see it as a bit of a mixed bag there...definitely was worse under mccloin and that may be more about the qbs arm not being able to get it out there even with a relatively average speed wr for nfl standards...still you see him misjudge the ball more than you'd like...

doesnt let the ball get into his body which is a big plus he goes and gets it with his hands only problem is his hands aren't great...not a natural hands catcher i'd say...doesn't pluck the football out of the air...drops balls when goes to ground...

i see some things to really like here...the brandon marshall type skill set is hard not to get excited about as is the vertical leaping ability and the body so i won't hate this pick at 50 but the lack of long speed and explosive burst is hard to ignore...i don't think i'd have it as a pick 50 target for us but i see the value falling somewhere in the 50-75 range...would be surprised if it gets any further than that...a lot to work with...of the big body wrs in this class this would definitely be one i believe who's game will transfer...i have to say not many of them will

He is in my line of vision...but at 81.

My attitude in this draft if I were the GM is to let them come to you.

i tell ya what you don't like...when he starts running east west it looks like he gets run down almost davon bess style...i see a lot of quick close here...but then there's other instances where he puts his foot in the ground in space cuts inside and across the field and no one touches him...the latter of which is usually once the coverage breaks down in the open field...admittedly created by his rac abilities and open field vision

i woudn't be running many reverses with this kid where the defense faces the play the entire time...he's not gonna turn many corners that way...

teams that envision brandon marshall are gonna obviously think highly of this kid...if not for brandon marshalls success with a similar skill set i doubt teams would overlook some of the concerns and his stock would be lower...

Good stuff Hoops. There has been alot of talk about Brandin Cooks lately, if you get a chance? Can you do a little somethin, somethin on him.

Thx

New Houston Head Coach Bill O'Brien, coached him at Penn State. Robinson was his top weapon WR. It will be interesting if Houston swoops on him given the coach's intimate knowledge of his terrific skills.
Also interesting to note that Robinson stayed loyal to Penn State after the whole blowup with the NCAA making them ineligible for Bowl Games, etc. I seem to recall that all the players were given the option to leave or stay at Penn State. A small number left, but it's a pretty good sign that Robinson had the good character to show loyalty to Penn State.

i will rather have Troy Nicklas, TE Notre Dame. Guy is as good as Tyler Eifert who went in the first last year.

doubt obrien will when he has hopkins and andre johnson already...especially if they skip qb in round 1...have to think if that happens pick 33 is earmarked for a qb or a possible trade out given the options they would have...that pick is always coveted first one of day 2

he's a slot wr...we have 2 already...explosive and i really do like him validates a top 25 grade i'd say but unless we are letting someone else go in our top 4 which i doubt where's his run gonna come from??? i don't see it frankly

I doubt he makes it to #50....

I know CK really likes him and he is taller and a bigger target than a lot of WR prospects ahead of him.

He's my favorite 2nd round WR option, but I also don't think he'll be there at #50. Could maybe even sneak into the late 1st.

The guy looks to me like a 1st round talent. Big frame with quick feet and great route running. He impresses me more than a lot of the "top" WRs. If we go O-Line in the 1st then I would love him in the second.

He's a top 30 guy, imo. Closer to the 19th pick than the 50th.

Trimmed down for his pro day and ran in the 4.4s, which helps...alot. He's very light on his feet for a guy his size, natural runner with the ball in his hands, bull-strong against press and in traffic. Impressive prospect.

I'd rather reach on RT at 50 than 19, but if we do address RT with the 1st, Allen Robinson would be on my shortlist at 50.

On 50/50 balls, Robinson is eye popping. This guy is strong and underrated. To me it makes no sense for him to drop to 50. I think he is an excellent red zone guy and a good guy for Miami to key on. I'd be ecstatic to land him.
