Hope your happy "True" Dolphins fans...

Not agreeing with the OP, but some of you guys seem so giddy about Tanny that you probably fart butterflies and crap rainbows...

The jury is still out on this kid.[/QUOTE]
I agree with the underlined bold text. But the OP went a little over board. I am glad that we actually took a chance on a first round QB for once. But at the same time, he is a QB with more experience as a wide out than being a signal caller, so I have my doubts.

Exactly!

Smartest move Ireland has EVER made...now we can build around Tannehill and his talents. Ireland made up his mind according to reports a week ago...the WEST COAST coaching staff know what they want in a QB and they saw that in Tannehill! It's all on them...I am proud to be a Dolphin fan...a New Hope!

If you think about it, he will fit Philbin/Sherman O to the tee and the added knowledge of playing WR where our WR will be required to read the defense and adjust with the QB. That will be a plus in the learning curve.

But remember folks....if you can count to four.

I knew some people would be upset about the pick. I'm not thrilled with it myself but hey, we got a quarterback. He's a project, Philbin made that clear when he says Tannehill had no fundamental training in Texas. So this means there's going to be a lot of teaching involved here. Because of that, I'm willing to give Tannehill 3 years before I label him.

But if we go full blown suck mode next year... Like top pick of the draft.. the Tannehill family is going to be looking for a new home.

Sorry but I'm happy as hell to finally see this franchise take a chance on something that could provide a huge return and not just draft linemen EVERY ****ING YEAR!!!

I would rather take a shot at a QB and MISS then take a shot at a DB or OT AND MISS

I'm so with you there my friend because we've done the latter several times over the past 15 or so years. You have to swing at some point or get away from the plate. Just Swing!!!

Peace.....

At least we took a chance with our pick, we will find out in a few years

I get that he's a nice athlete with a good arm, but he struggled with decision making in college. What's going to happen in the NFL?

Find me a guy; Any guy in his early to mid 20's that doesn't have questionable decision making skills.

Tannehill even said on Chuckie's QB spectacular that he needs to improve his decision making. So, RT realizes what he needs to improve on that is half the battle. If he can sit for the entire 2012 season and get some reps with 1st team in practice then the future is bright indeed.

Look, OP, if Tannehill turns out to be great, you'll be happy. If he turns out to be a bust and we go 0-16, you'll be happy, too.

So, what are you complaining about?

The first interesting move Ross and Ireland have made and you decide to rant about it. The year after taking Ted Ginn, who was a ****ing awful pick, we won the division. No single move sets anyone back 3 years. Don't be such a scaredy cat.

What's interesting about staying put at 8 and grabbing someone who half of the world thinks will be legit and the other half thinks he's a complete joke?

I agree with you about the Ted Ginn Jr (and his family) pick, but we had a much better squad in '08 than we do now.
Also we had Chad 'noodle arm' Pennington as our QB that year. (I've probably hated on Penny more than 95% of the people on Finheaven)
But he is statistically one of the most accurate passers in NFL history, and has made the playoffs EVERY SEASON that he stayed healthy (which was half of his career)

We don't have the weapons we had then, and not to mention TOM BRADY was hurt and OUT FOR THE SEASON.
That makes taking the east much easier.

We just took a "top 10 player" and won't get any use out of him for AT LEAST 1 SEASON. Maybe more (depending on how he picks everything up, or earlier if Moore and Gerrard get hurt)

I believe that's why people are frustrated with our pick. That and we see other teams trading back and getting value/more players. Which is what we need with all the holes we have to fill.

I got an idea...

Go find another team to root for....

or hate in this case..

Making definitive assessments about a player the day after the draft is just ludicrous... And so is declaring that he only played 19 games so he will suck... Conversely it is also ridiculous to declare he is amazing based on such a small sample size... Basically assessment of the specific player is totally SUBJECTIVE... it's all just opinion...

What is not subjective is the POSITION... If you don't think the Dolphins are in a full on re-build you are kidding yourself... And any rebuild BEGINS at QB... It doesn't END there...

The Phins had a HUGE advantage in this case because of Sherman... They get an inside look at the kid... at his make-up... This is the difference between good and great... The player's Head and heart... and it is not quantifiable... Measureable... But EVERY football coach can tell you which kid is 'special' which kid you would want to go to war with and it is almost NEVER the most talented... I think Sherman spoke an emphatic 'yes' this kid is one you would want to be in the trenches with... He knows what's at stake... So stop making definitive assessments and start making objective ones... The kid is a project and the fun is just beginning.

You just set this franchise back 3 more years! Congrats Steven Ross and Jeff Ireland your agenda is complete! Whats next? You move the team to LA? You too must be the dumbest people people in the ****ING world! Lets waste the #8 pick in the draft and draft a kid who has 3 total seasons of football experience at the QB position (1 season in high school and 2 in college)... The entire football world is laughing at my once proud organization, ran by 2 of the most ignorant and totally clueless imbeciles to walk the Earth!!! I see people all excited about this pick..... REALLY!!!! Do you people honestly even have any knowledge of football or actually even played the game? This pick was made by 2 guys that watch way to much ESPN and NFL network!!! 2 teams made Ryan Tannenhill popular 2 weeks before the draft... The Philadelphia Eagles called him for a "workout" even though they just signed Michael Vick to a Mega deal and they have Vince Young... People on ESPN and NFL network were all like "WOW!!! This guy is starting to get some interest from "EVERYBODY in the league" For Steven Ross and Jeff Ireland I just want to let you know that this technique is called a smoke screen... smoke and mirrors... Steven Ross was probably watching NFL network while in his bath tub of his million dollar Get away and got a boner that only Viagra could supply him... Little did he know that Tannenhill probably wasnt even the best QB in his own Conference!!!

These are the words of a Big 12 Scout before the draft:

"There are talks about teams moving up to #3 to pick this guy up as a qb. Am I not mistaken, or was he not the fifth best quarterback in the Big 12 last year!?

I get that he's a nice athlete with a good arm, but he struggled with decision making in college. What's going to happen in the NFL? I think this is really unfair to Tannenhill, although I'm sure his agent just thinks this is fricken awesome.

As far as I can tell, he's a very nice young man and a quality young football player, but #3 seems overwhelmingly high to me. I was thinking this guy would be 4th or 5th round pick with a team taking a chance on his talent."

THIS FRANCHISE WILL BE GARBAGE UNTIL WE ARE STEVEN ROSS AND JEFF IRELAND FREE!!!!!

I'm not Effing happy at all with the pick! When you draft in the top ten your pick must be a starter not wait and see 2-3 year later.

surely there weren't any other "I hate this pick" threads out there. Damn now i'm considering raising the thread starting limit to 100.

Some of you guys are just so damn negative that it makes no difference what the Dolphins topic du jour is, you are going to complain. Granted our FO has been abysmal in recent years, but we have a new offensive minded coaching staff and an owner who (while making some big blunders) is determined to return this franchise to it's storied past. If you want to change the recent culture of our beloved franchise, the perfect place to start would be for many in our fan base to shed all this all negative all the time attitude. I finally believe that we are moving in the right direction. I believe in Philbin and our coaching staff. I believe that we have drafted the franchise QB we have all been waiting for. I don't believe in Jeff Ireland, but I am going to support him and hope that he is able to prove so many of us wrong. This draft may be his last chance to do so. I've been guilty of this gloom and doom feeling surrounding the Phins at times of late, but realized that how counter productive it is. I think this draft is going to one to remember for the Dolphins as the draft that keyed the turnaround of the Dolphins.
