To point to the obvious. With a win this weekend the Dolphins can very well become division leaders. The Bills are playing KC at home which does not look favorable for them and the Jets are playing at Carolina. The Dolphins are still in the playoff race even with how sorry they have been performing. Lets go Dolphins for staying competetive in a declining AFC East!:D

False hope is no hope at all.

Well lets just say that it is possible for them to stay in the race all year and that they might make it to the playoffs but they will not make it deep into the playoffs if they make it at all.

So we agree....it's false hope....the only prize is the Superbowl....winning the division by default...or being 8-8....isn't winning...it's charity. While it may make some feel good....it's not very filling....and it will leave a bad taste afterwards.

True, the Superbowl is the objective, but I think we all knew we weren't going to get there this year anyway. Winning the division (I can't believe I'm talking about this ... we have a 3-5 record and have won 1 game in the last 5 weeks) does give us something to build on for next year though. It would be tremendous progress.

an 8-8 team could very well win our division. I still have hope but we have some big games up ahead of us. Patsies twice with the Jets and Bills again. If we limit gus to 25 throws a game where WR's actually make the catch, stick to the run, and our D holds up... we should stay competitive in the run. But if we start putting the pressure on Gus to throw 30-40 times a game, only run the ball 20 times, and give up big plays on D... we'll be seeing more L's in our column. I know its easy for me to say all of this, but its all true in the end.

First of all... yes the SB is the ultimate prize. But if every organization looked past season and those weekly battles.. most would never make the SB. 1 week at a time. Then win the division. The win play off games.... the if you're lucky focus on the SB..
But 1 step at a time.
And this week.. its the Patsies!

Yes your right...one game at a time....but only if you win.

Weak division champs, Strong division champs, Doesnt mean a thing. If we keep improving every week, getting better and better ... all we got to do is get in and we have a shot. False hope is still hope.

Spoken like a true Dolfan!! I mean if you think its over than why watch the upcoming games?? Whats the point or why even come to this site?? If people think there is no hope then why do they bother?? Thank you Omaha for being a real fan because when the Dolphins do get there it will be far more sweeter for people like you & me!

You must have really enjoyed the Jimmy Johnson era....good enough to get in...bad enough to get thrown out. Yipe!

So if we are mathematically eliminated from playoff contention you'll stop watching the Fins? This year is about progress, anything above that is gravy. If we make the playoffs, awesome. If we are eliminated but continue to progress, awesome. Nobody's (well almost nobody) given up on the season. The expectations for most here were not to be in the playoffs in year 1 of Saban's plan. Currently sitting at 3-5 I don't think that has changed for many.
