big time FA's are a futile dream

if a guy is worth having he is almost always franchised or re-upped, so what's left is usually a modest pool. look at the latest PFT report on Haynesworth, I would bet that if he had no baggage he would have been locked up long ago. I wouldn't touch him with a ten-foot pole

I like modest guys in FA who are below the radar but could blossom(they are stuck in a bad place or behind a top-notch player on the depth chart) or they are just decent upgrades. that being said I thought Wilford fit in the latter category. the poster child for this kind of FA was Larry Chester. I had never heard of him but he was one of the few nice Speilman moves

I am reminded me of Damien Woody, thank god we didn't win that bidding war

here is hoping that we snag 5 or 6 guys that are Larry Chesters and not Deangelo Halls. I think we could find a CB, G, WR, DT who are not big names but solidify our roster

Mike Wright DE/NT NE 6'4 295 - undrafted, 4 years of experience, tonnes of upside, he plays both positions in NE's 3/4 defense.

R.Willis RT Seattle - started 10 games due to injury from their started and only allowed 1.5 sacks. Would be a nice depth guy but if he can prove his worth maybe we could slide Carey to Guard.

These would be two guys that would help our team become even better but with little fanfare and at a pretty low cost.

The Dolphins' recent refusal to pay over the odds is a sign of two things in my view.

A) They'll be building this team through the draft. If they can save draft picks by signing proven talent, they'll do just that but they do appear to be willing to make a splash by paying big bucks for vets.

B) They're taking their time. If they wanted a Championship now, I think they'd be far more likely to spend what they have on some bigger names. We have a lot of holes to fill before we apply the finishing touches. One more draft like '08 and we'll be in a seriously nice situation. That's when you can sign your Haynesworths or your TJ Hoosh to win yourselves a Championship.
