First I know I am gonna catch a whole lot of grief over this... I know living in the past is pointless... Unfortunately after sunday's loss to the Jets I think it's not just the Dolphin fans who have given up on this team. The reaction of the Phins in the locker room gives me the impression this team is on the brink of disaster. Anyway, here I go...

Pittsburgh and Buffalo are legit losses. (0-2)

Tennessee, Win... (1-2)

Here is where I think the season turned. Miami was @ Houston and Miami was lax the whole game until the 4th. Miami turns on the offense too late. Miami scores a TD and calls a half back pass on a 2pt conversion. After that, Miami calls an onside kick - executed perfectly by the Dolphins and Mare. Adams has a clear chance to pounce on the ball - which NO DOUBTEDLY would have led to the game winning FG, instead he lands on the ball - it squirts away and so does the game.....

Miami @ New England: Miami's defense completely dominated the Pats. Mare misses 2 FG. Miami has 3 TO's that lead to 17 points (directly). Miami loses 20-10. 2nd game in a row that Miami should have won. I would tell anyone that would listen that on that day - Miami was the better team...

Miami @ New York Jets: Daniels is out. Miami goes down 20-3. Miami comes storming back. DOESNT GO FOR IT ON 4th and INCHES INSIDE THE 5. The Dolphin defense again shows up in the 4th Qt. On the 3rd down play directly before the FG attempt, Harrington throws the pass to Hagan instead of the open WR to his right (Welker). Another close game that Miami could have and should have won.

Miami's next games are against Green Bay, Chicago, Kansas City, Minnesota and Detroit. If Miami can some how put this together, play the kind of offense they tend to play in the 4th Qtr. in the first 3 and the defense continues to play MIAMI DEFENSE - Miami will have atleast a chance in all of those games. Yes, including the Bears game.

I know.... wishful thinking....

i don't buy into it. pretty much any team that's 1-5 can say they could easily be 4-2. AND vice versa. look at the rams, for example.

I don't think the Raiders can say they could be 4-2. I think it is a valid explanation...we have not gotten beaten badly yet.

Every team has at least a couple of games every year that they could've won but didn't. That's the differnce between good teams and great teams. Great teams don't have to make excuses like the Dolphins have the past 6 years. The Raiders undoubtedly should've beaten Cleveland, so there's at least 1.

you don't have to get badly beaten to get beaten. bad teams lose big, bad teams lose close. good teams win big, good teams win close.

that's not wishful thinking. That's realistic thinking. I buy into it.

If we would have either not hired Mularkey, or run the No-huddle on every possession this season, we would be 6-0.

We lost 3 games to poor playcalling..

Pittsburgh---stupid half back pitch on 3rd down
Houston---stupid half back pass on 2pt conversion
NY Jets---stupd pass call on 3rd and 2

If we would have won more games last year and won the Superbowl, we would have been World Champions!

do you realize that every game has it's defining moment. One or two plays that changes the course of the game. Unfortunately for us, we have had NONE. This is my opinion on defining plays:

Against Pitts- failure to convert on 3rd and 2 w/bs pitch. They score 87 yd TD next play
Buffalo- Culpepper's Int late in first half. Just KILLS us and any momentum is shot.
Texans- 3rd and long interference call against us in the Texans favor. They score next play.
Pats- Failure to convert a first down after recovering fumbled punt return. 3 and out and any momentum is shot
Jets- gotta convert 3rd and 2 at end of game. We score TD and not tie, if we convert.

Honestly, for a 1-5 team, every game HAS been within grasp. Just a couple plays, like others have said, and those are ALL W's.

Exactly. The Rams could easily be 3-3 if Kurt Warner doesn't regularly wash his hands in bacon griese before each snap.
We haven't been blown out, but the truth is, we haven't showned the energy, and the will to win those close games. And we very easily could be
0-6 if that Titan's TE doesn't fumble on the 2.

And if "ands ifs and buts were cookies and nuts Id be full"

Agree, but I'd change two things.

Buffalo - Long PI call on W. Allen. Allows Buffalo to score only TD of the day.

Texans - The defenses' inability to get off the feild on 3rd down, and completely going flat in the 4th quarter.
