The Rams drafted both of these guys last year, second and fifth round picks respectively. Klopfenstein was #1 on the depth chart and Byrd was #3. Presumably with the addition of Randy, St. Louis will not need both players and their chances to produce will be minimal. Do we wait and see if Byrd gets cut or do we offer a late round selection for Klopfenstein?

In case you were wondering how I feel about Martin I will let his #'s speak for me:

Let's see what a couple of the young players we have on our roster can do before we go after someone from another team. We have Halterman, Massaquoi and Rader, all with less than 3 years experience to work with.

I saw Klopfenstein a lot in college (Big 12) fan. I'd offer up a 6th in a heartbeat for this guy just based on potential alone. He's big, great hands and decent speed. Might even go a 5th for him.

Are you kidding me!?! Do you mean these guys:

A combined 0 catches for 0 yards and 0 touchdowns. You can't be serious. If these guys had any talent at all they would have at least seen the field. Klopfenstein for a late round pick would be a HUGE, repeat...HUGE upgrade over all of these guys.

Klopfenstein and Byrd are the reasons they signed Randy in the first place. Why would we want them? We already have a questionmark at TE in Martin and backups in Peelle and Massaquoi. We need proven veteran talent at TE, not more waste bucket TE's.

No thanks, we need to upgrade.

We can find a good TE in the draft.

Hopefully if we do draft a TE, it will be in the lower rounds.
But we can find a good one in the draft.

If not, Martin is probably our starter.

What is Klops time in the 40.I thought he was fast comin out of Colorad. He is big.Maybe he could be developed into a good Te.

You have to be kidding me. You won't find a better TE past our 1st rd. pick that is more talented that Klopfenstein. He's 6'5, 260lbs. and ran a 4.63. I'll repeat that...a 4.63!! And that was just on his combine work out. On his pro day he ran a 4.56! He's a huge target that can move..al la Mr. Gates in SD. If I can give a 6th rounder for him, I do it in a heartbeat. Hell, take my 5th instead.

Cam is really high on this kid, just hope he can stay healthy.
Never know, Cam's offense may make him a Pro Bowl TE.

First off, do a little research on these guys before you call them "waste bucket TE's". Klopfenstein is a rather large target who runs in the 4.6 range. And neither is the reason they got Randy. Linehan's relationship with Randy and the fact that he was cut gives them a great opportunity to reunite. Even if they like Klopfenstein the chance to pick up a proven top ten TE talent who has experience in your system is a no brainer. And now taking a late round pick for his backup is a no brainer.

Secondly, which "proven veteran talent" would you like? Please name one. Just one....

....waiting....

Lastly, Klopfenstein would be the second TE off the board in this years draft. In fact, he was the third TE taken in last years much deeper class...in front of fasano by the way. Securing him for a late round selection would be great for us. Actually, I don't care how we get him. Just get him.

Um, What about Jermaine Wiggans from Minnesota? I woulda thought I would of seen him in this thread somewhere! He's would be the best bet.
