We ve been throwing around Johnsons name for awhile but how about another top 5 WR whos only 24? The cards owe him about 32 mil for the next two years according to rotoworld and its a possibility they could trade him. Would cost a lot but at 24 the possibilities are endless. Thoughts?

I would much rahter have him over Chad Johnson. The biggest reason, while Johnson is marketable, Fitzgerlad doesn't come with the big head and ego. More likely to be a team player. That said Joshson isn't a T.O. either, but I still like Fitz better.

It won't happen. He would definitely be top 3 on the list of WR's you would trade for in the entire NFL though.
He would be amazing opposite Ginn and give a big target for Beck to throw to.

Hell yeah. in a heartbeat...but i think hes more top10 not 5...only reason he aint there yet is he doesnt have the kinda longevity of doin it like the other guys (Moss, TO, Harrison, Holt, Johnson, Smith, etc)

I think Fitz would be perfect for our offense. He never runs the str8 burning routes...that was always boldin. he runs all over the place and usually gets YAC. I think he would do wonders for Ginn...and for alot LONGER than CJ so yeah if we can get him. Another plus is that he has been on a losing team...with QB problems...and the DEF always sucked. hes gettin a better deal here for the long run over the cards for sure IMO.

so how do we get him??? lets talk scenarios here people!

By playing fantasy football.

Lets talk REALITY here people.

It's interesting because Arizona have some big choices to make. Karlos Dansby and Calvin Pace are free agents and Darnell Dockett is due for cash next season, as is Anquan Boldin. Fitzgerald is due $15 million in salary this season. It's almost certain that he's going to restructure, but whether they can keep all those pieces of the puzzle remains to be seen.

OMG I would love Larry F. here Larry Fitz., Ted Ginn, Fred Davis.

its not going to happen i dont want to pay him what he is going to be getting paid this upcoming year, i would rather take Chad Johnson or Roy Williams

He would restructure for a long term 6-7 years Deal. I wouldn't mind pay him top flight because he is a proven young receiver.

CJ and Roy Williams are very likely to make the same type of money. I would hands-down take Fitz over either one of them

Talk from here in the Desert is that Fitz isnt going anywhere. It would be much more likely for the Cards to part with Pace and Dockett than Fitz....

That being said, if he DID become available, Parsnips better be doing everything possible to get him in a phins jersey :hi5:

Not even Close Chad Johnson is going to be Getting 4.5 Million this year Roy Williams is going to be getting 500,500 Thousand and Larry is going to be getting 14.6 Million so i dont think that is the Same Type of money

Trust me, before its all said and done, Fitz will be making much closer to 5 mill

Also, this is from Sportsline.

--Almost since WR Larry Fitzgerald was drafted, there were rumors he would be traded to Minnesota. Most of those rumors came out of Minneapolis, Fitzgerald's hometown. Those reports have cropped up again, but the Cardinals say they have no intention of trading the receiver.
But it's important to note that Fitzgerald's cap number in 2008 is more than $16 million. The Cardinals want to extend his deal and lower that figure. If roadblocks crop up in that effort, the trade rumors will pick up steam.

There was a couple blurbs in a local paper in late December about his re-structure. Still trying to find it but will post it when I do.

Here is some more on Fitz;)

The Cardinals are not releasing any numbers, but are reporting that a figure is penciled in for Larry Fitzgerald’s contract extension. Arizona would like the deal to become official by the start of free agency at the end of the month.

As it stands, Fitzgerald is set to make $14.592 million in 2008 and more than $17 million in 2009. The Cardinals are aware that 1,400-yard seasons don't come cheap, but they realize the need to free up some

The Cardinals are aware that 1,400-yard seasons don't come cheap, but they realize the need to free up some funds. Their ultimate goal is to give Fitzgerald a long-term deal that spreads out the cap hit.

Fitzgerald’s outlook is simple.

“I want to be a Cardinal,†Fitzgerald said. “I enjoy it here. I love my teammates.â€

He will not be with Miami... Why would he sign for anything that wasn't at least 32 mil guaranteed. That's what he is owed for the next two years. Too much money for rebuilding. Maybe if we were one wr away from the show.

How about no. He wants waaaaaaaaayyyyyy to much money. We can be just as good with Roy Williams or Bryant Johnson who will be way cheaper than Fitz.
