We want a veteran WR to compliment what we already have, and Saban has said he doesnt like the free agents out there. Now, this may be a stretch considering KC's lack of depth at WR, but if they are comfortable with Kennison + whoever they draft + Sammie Parker, would they go for something like:

Johnny Morton
2nd Rounder

for

Pat Surtain

I think Morton would be a great fit on the Fins.

http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/1223 Here are his stats.

Just an idea, taking into account Saban obviously is looking for a veteran WR to add to the mix (as evident by the Lee visit).

I don't think that would happen. We're obviously having a hard time getting just a second rounder for let alone also a decent wr from a team that needs all the receivers they can get.

dude they are only offering us a 4th rd now.. so this is unrealistic. I would be content with a 2nd rd this year.

I think I remember reading earlier in the offseason they were going to release Morton, which is when this idea came to me anyway.

It wont happen, but I think the value is pretty good, considering many of you are saying a 2nd and a 5th, and Morton= about a 5th.

How about we keep Surtain and let KC rot at the bottom of the AFC West.

We can always cut David Bowens to get some cap room to sign the draft picks.

Unless KC is willing to give up their 1st, keep our shut down corner for another year.

We have about 2 millions cap room and Bowens has a figure for 2.2 M so I doubt that would make for the Draft picks we still need the Surtain thing done.

Morton is terrible, ask a Chiefs fan!!

Do not listen to this man. We Chiefs fans love Morton!

Sure, he may drop crucial passes, never put up more then 750 yards in a season, fake injuries to avoid practice, and refuse to renegotiate his contract even though he has dramatically underperformed, but he can do a hell of a worm on the rare occassion that he actually scores a touchdown! I don't think I have seen the high and mighty Patrick Surtain break down and do the worm after an interception. He just can't compare.

Morton + a 4th for Surtain trade would be great for both teams. Really, it would ;)

Start with a 2nd buddy- no way Pat is going for less then that.

I just imagined somebody saying that out loud and I started cracking up... :roflmao:

They won't do it even for Larry Johnson straight up.

Larry Johnson and 4th for Surtain?? ANyone thoughts...

If the Chiefs did this they would be adding to their defense, but taking away from their offense a lot more then people think. We already lost Blaylock, who was adequate backup. Our coaches have been saying this offseason that they would like to give LJ a significant amount of carries every game next season to keep Priest fresh.

Additionally, if Priest goes down LJ can come in and our offense won't miss a beat. We couldn't say the same for Blaylock last year and it probably wouldn't be the same for a draft pick or somebody else. In my opinion, it would be smarter for the Chiefs to give up a 2nd pick instead of giving up a proven commodity in LJ.
