Has Dennis Hickey been fired from Tampa? I was wondering if a plausible scenario at this point would be to promote Gaine and hire Hickey in an assistant GM capacity. In this regard you would have two people with an extensive player personnel background. As has been stated, Tampa has drafted a lot of individual talent with coaching and QB being their biggest problem. Especially if Hickey targeted Glennon as an upgrade over Freeman.

How about this scnario, bring in Farmer as the GM, Gaine in some sort of capacity. Xanders as the "capologist" as he's been deemed.

Get rid of Aponte

Well if they're truly looking for a triumvirate sort of approach here, where there's a balance of power among Aponte, Philbin, and the GM, and they each check and balance each other in steering the team, then they may be relegated to hiring people whose expertise is only in this area (player evaluation, as opposed to more wide-ranging GM duties), from the standpoint of someone's willingness to take the job, as well as from the standpoint of how the triumvirate would optimally function.

Sounds as though Xanders has been eliminated, probably due to being a poor fit in terms of how much power he would desire. And many have cited Farmer as lacking experience in evaluating collegiate talent as well as being Peterson's "guy".

If you read Ross' own statement regarding the most important credentials he was looking for in a GM, then to me this scenario makes sense. He cited evaluating talent and working within a collaborative environment as his vision for the role. So why not have two people who can bounce their ideas off one another?

Since Ross has unequivocally stated that both Philbin and the new GM report directly to him, and since Aponte negotiates the contracts, I'm not sure what other qualifications are required by this hire.

All the writing is on the wall that this is going to be collaborative.
"team player" etc.

Regardless of who is the final guy whether it be Farmer, Dawson or Gaine.

They are all cut from a similar cloth. Young, affable.
Still whomever they hire I would expect to see the org move quickly to bring in other experienced person in to guide them.

And/or have one in charge of pro player evaluation, and the other in charge of college player evaluation.

It's certainly the opposite end of the spectrum from the "Czar" approach, but there's no inherent reason why it can't work in my opinion. In fact, if the people involved can function adequately and appropriately within that structure, then I can see inherent benefits of it in comparison to the one-man show approach.

Totally Agree gravity. In fact I have deep reservations about the "Czar" approach.
It has never worked anywhere that I can gather, unless the Czar came up from within like Belicheck .
The reason NE works is they have excellent coaching and I bet there is a lot of collaborative brainstorming.
This Miami year reeked of lack of communication between the components.

I was going to give you a "thumbs up" for your reply, but perhaps you disabled that feature in your settings.

So "thumbs up" for also feeling that this approach has merits.

Thanks, and it's impossible to disable that feature oneself to my knowledge.
