I was thinking in answering a different thread about how this season is playing itself out. The Jets/Pats game last nite is a prime example of this question: Can anyone remember the last time that the AFC east was this competitive from top to bottom? Honestly I think anyone from this division could make a serios run thru the playoffs. The exception being the jills who I thought were the favorites. I have been a fan since 1973 and I can't remember thelast time the division was this competitive. Any thoughts?

yeah this division is pretty tight... i think around 1998, and 2001 everyone was pretty decent
i dont remeber it that well.. but this year the division is competitive...
i dont know how many wins the bills will get, but they look bad... i dont know why, they started off hot, i guess they're one dimensional and teams figured out how to beat them...
sucks for them they havent won since they resigned jauron to a 3 year extension.. haha
bills suck...
unfortunatly the jets and pats dont suck as much and we really have to get 10 wins to get the division, and hope the jets dont win 11.. i'd rather win the division, and get at least 1 home playoff game, that would be INSANE

Maybe the '85 season is closest comparion when it was us, Green Sludge, and the precursor of Evil Empire (just the patsies back then) all with winning records and in playoffs. '94-'96 were competitive years for the divsion with the Jets being the exception. Mid '70's had the Lydell Mitchell-Bert Jones old Baltimore Colts, us, and then the Pats made a run in '76. Many times in the history of the division when a team had a great year there were one or a couple of really awful bottom feeders at various times to bring down the rest of the division (Bills in '70s, Colts and Pats early '80s, Jets mid '90s etc.)

Yeah, likens back to the Freeman Mcneil, Ken O'Brien days in the snow (that was '85 right) Damn Jets, hate them from way back.

Wesley Walker and Al Toon were the dudes who more than irked me. Tha '86 game was beyond ridiculous how they scorched our dbs. Our secondary was getting worse by the game back then (late '85 and entire 86' season). Thank god Lou Oliver was drafted and made a difference a bit later. We made a slightly above average at best qb in O'Brien look like all world when we played them.

Damnit Al Toon, now I can't sleep, Al frickin Toon.

ah, the memories. i remember back in the very early 90's when the jets beat us in the last game knocking us out of the playoffs, i think it was either vick or hector who absolutely ran through us. i was like 10 years old but it hurt. bad.
