Here's the only example needed:
* This season you are saying everything is Cutler's fault
* Next season you will be saying nothing is Tannehill's fault
Track records are established. We all have biases. Using a random screen shot to try to pretend it explained everything is something Sons of Shula used to do. It was fluff then and it would be fluff now. Examples are fragile. But multiple posts in every thread aiming every condemnation at Cutler is more than a bit tiresome and amusing. I posted in preseason once Tannehill went down that the one guarantee around here would be that Tannehill's biggest supporters would go out of their way to obsess over the 2017 quarterbacking, while pretending Tannehill would have magically solved and cured everything. Ryan Tannehill's greatest season is one in which he never took a snap. He's suddenly far beyond any level he's ever managed.
Fortunately most of the other posters I considered for that tendency have largely stayed away from it. They have either watched and rooted, or focused on other matters like the running back situation. You have been the exception, fixated solely on Cutler and his so-called execution, while trying to pretend Adam Gase has been fabulous all season. And also rooting for the Dolphins to lose every game, for that cherished draft slot.
Yes, Cutler has had a poor season. But it has been nicely imbalanced, to the point he hasn't wobbled around with one mediocre game after another, like Tannehill so often does. Cutler has had abysmal games and many very good games. Someone correctly posted here the other day that Cutler now has four games above 100 passer rating, while Tannehill in his breakout 2016 season had three of those. We have taken advantage of those very good Cutler performances -- other than the Raiders game -- and we have also won two games in one season as double digit underdog for the first time in franchise history. Consequently we're not far from where we figured to be. Only the route was strange.
I am not allowed to take it further around here. I wish I could. I realize it is frowned upon. But things like plus grade or minus grade mean absolutely squat. They likewise carry subjective bias and not much else. Until recently DeVante Parker somehow carried a plus grade for the season. There was nothing to recommend that plus grade, other than it had been bestowed prior to the season due to favoritism.
