Matt Moore offered some insight last week into exactly how Gase is doing that.

Gase’s approach – besides extremely detailed teaching – also includes pushing Tannehill to his limits but also giving him more freedom than he has ever had.

Gase tries to distract Tannehill and the other quarterbacks during drills by behaving like a rambunctious child who had too much sugar.

While the quarterbacks throw sometimes, Gase is “throwing bags at you or big balls, just making you move,” Moore said. “He’s flashing up signs, using his hands, usually numbers or thumbs up.”

Sort of like the crazy guy behind the basket when the opposing team shoots free throws.

“All of these things he does while doing a drill, it’s stuff that translates to your game naturally and that’s what you want as a quarterback,” Moore said. “There is always some crazy drill. Always a competition. He’s big on accuracy and footwork.”

During practice, Gase likes to put Tannehill and the other quarterbacks in a bunch of difficult situations: 4th and 10, facing unexpected blitzes and anything they could possibly encounter in a game.

I believe it was noted last year that they were working on his footwork some and that helped with the deep ball accuracy that we saw.

I like this part . . . "Not only is Gase giving Tannehill more freedom to change the plays than Joe Philbin, Mike Sherman, Bill Lazor, Dan Campbell or anyone else ever did, but Moore says much of the playbook is now available to Tannehill at the line of scrimmage. “Maybe it’s not the entire playbook but there’s a lot of things we can get to very quickly,” Moore said. “[Gase] really instills in your mind that if there’s something you don’t like, you can get into it or out of it at your will. We have a lot of answers to a lot of different looks. If Ryan sees something he likes, it’s very easy to get to it. That’s probably the biggest thing… “The whole offense can be done at the line of scrimmage. It’s very simple to get from one thing to another. In other offenses, it’s small packages or a couple plays here or there. Everything is on the table at all times” now."

As long as its not the Sparano buzzer that killed Henne...

Has to be better than that stupid "deer in the headlights" look, clueless Joe had.

And don't be a cry baby and say Omar Kelly doesn't know ****. Well he knows more about the team than all of us. Hrs at every team function every freaking year.

Umm how does being there make you smart, know what your seeing, or even doing? All I get from Omar is basic knowledge who dramatizes every event at practice to generate click bait articles to keep his job. When honestly I bet there is high school sports writers that could cover Dolphins better than he does. His predictions and gut are always wrong when it comes to trying to speculate as well or once again just trying to generate clicks to keep his job.

Event: Landry Makes 2 Drops in practice - Omar Article: Landry going to slump this year?

Event: Parker takes a personal day - Omar Article: Is Parker already starting to skip practices?"

As these are fun doing a few more lol

Event: Suh passes on a drink of water - Omar Article: Is Suh destroying his body and health?

Event: Wake stumbles a little bit - Omar Article: Wake has a limp and is he pushing it too far?

If Omar was more positive about the Dolphins you all would think he's an excellent beat writer. I think most of you dislike him because he comes off as arrogant and is negative a lot of the time.

Yoge's two posts may be the worst two I've ever read on this message board.

If Omar knows anything about football, you aren't going to learn it from reading his inflammatory tmz tweeting.

Competition for Tannehill? Moore and Doughty? Are you kidding? They aren't going to push Tannehill for the starting spot.

What on earth made you post and quote this crap? And then try to defend it?

Yea, that probably has something to do with it.

Jeez, why wouldn't fans appreciate a negative, arrogant beat-writer who has a track record of being dead-wrong, changing his positions, and teaming up with one of the most outrageously inappropriate and psychotic commentators this team has ever had (Mrs. Grimes)?

Hmmm, beats me :idk:

edit: Oh, and yea I'm sure the key to unlocking Tannehill's true potential is splitting first team reps between him and Matt Moore! That'll do it.

Im by no means a rah-rah guy about Tannehill but dude your negativity about him and the Dolphins is exhausting. Maybe you should find something online that brings you more happiness because you sound miserable. Omar writes agenda based stuff constantly so him being around the team that he hates is not good enough reason to act like his word is gospel. Try to enjoy the forum a little more bro sheesh

This ^^^ Omar just is consistently way off base on most articles/predictions.

Omar Kelly is a disaster. And no I do not care he is around the team because he lives in an alternative universe. Terrible reporter.
