How bad do we need a new logo?

Logo? we're talking about Logo are you kiddin' me, we're just trying to win a game.

Some teams should NEVER toy with their logo. Yankees, Red Sox, Cowboys, Bruins, Montreal Canadians, Steelers, Cubs, and the Miami Dolphins are one of them. The tweak they did years back to what we have now was questionable. To do a revamp of the whole thing, that would be sacrilegious.

You want to change the uniform a bit, fine. Don't touch the logo.

I love our current logo but also wouldn't mind a new one. That said, I wouldn't want a new logo being approved by the same guy who approved using the "Fins" song, so I say leave it alone for now.

thank you sir. why do some claim it's a hoop?

I thought I heard way back in the '70s that it was a fire engulfed hoop that the dolphin was supposed to jump through, similar to what circus animals did.

For what it's worth, I like the idea of going retro and using the '72 unis for next year.

When I saw the new logo in '97, at first I didn't like it because I was so used to the original/old logos. But, after about 10 minutes, I realized it represented the Miami Dolphins so I fell in love with it and have been ever since then. I have too many articles of clothing with the current logo...so don't change it!!

it means everything actually..fans should not be "free agents" and just select a team to root for..I dont care if you saw marino play as a kid or your grandparents used to vacation in boca raton..you have to be born in the city or your dad can be from that city..thats it..you cant just decide "hey you know what, im gonna root for Miami" We dont have much of anything in oregon including a football team so ill pick the dolphins..

I've never understood this theory. So, you're forced to like a team, even if you don't like anything about them? Granted, there's some players I'm not a fan of, but I'm 25 years into my fandom, so it's basically ingrained in me now. What if the Dolphins would move to L.A.? Good luck being a Buccaneers or Jaguars fan. Don't forget to go to mapquest to see which city is closer to Miami so you know who to root for. You basically sound like you're a fan of Miami, but not a Dolphins fan.

It's worse where I live now in Wisconsin where the whole STATE is expected to be Packer fans. I grew up in Illinois, 3 hours away from Chicago, so it's not like I had a "home" team. I got interested in football when I was too young to realize the geography of things. For all I knew, I lived near Miami. I just knew one thing: I love the Miami Dolphins, and that will never change.

So with this logic. Who do you root for if two teams are in an area i.e. Giants/Jets, Yankees/Mets, Cubs/White Sox?

Also, if you can only root for teams in "your" city then there really wouln't be an NFL. Only the "privledged few" who live in an actual NFL city could root for that team.....the rest of the poor people can pick from college or high school teams in their "home town"....how narrow minded of you.

I for one have been a Dolphin fan for over 35 years. Started liking them because I couldn't stand the team that was in my area (Redskins). But I guess I should just get rid of my Dolphins memorabilia and quit watching them. I'm sure the NFL owner would go for this.

I'll admit I didn't read the last 99 posts, but presumably as the 100th, I'll cut to the chase:

Tradition trumps all... If it ain't broke, don't fix it;

this is a cubic zirconia issue in a solid gold legacy tradition.

I hate the dolphins but I love the classic logo, maybe they could go back to the exact 70s/80s version but I like the classic logo.

Everyone wants to look like an arena football team.... look at the newest jersey changes... jaquars..for example... terrible.
The best uniforms in the NFL happen to be the ones with the retro feel to it.... Cowboys, Raiders, Packers... and the Dolphins always find ourselves at the top of uniform rankings.... but hey... lets just throw some flash into our unis.. maybe that new black carbon style helmets.. that way if we still suck, we'll look terrible too.

i like our logo and uniforms.. the only thinkg i would change is maybe the style of numbers.... im not a huge fan of the drop shadows... i also wish we did wear throwbacks more often though

I definitely prefer the throwbacks as opposed to the orange uniforms or the aqua jersey and pants combination. That one reminds me too much of pajamas.
