OK so 4 years ago we made a huge splash by signing the best offensive and defensive free agents available... in Brandon marshall and karlos dansby...

Yet somehow both of them are now off the team?

Last year playing for Arizona dansby had:

122 Tackles
6.5 Sacks
19 (!!!) PD
1 FF
4 INT
2 TD...

Absolutely insane numbers

the passes defended (19) were more than his 3 years combined ( 17) in Miami... he had 1 INT in 3 years with Miami, he had 4 in one year back in Arizona ?

6 sacks in 3 years in Miami, 6.5 last year alone..

How on earth did we misuse him so badly and why the heck did we get rid of both him and Marshall??? Because they weren't "Philbin guys"?? I'm starting to think our HC is a joke....

Why did we get rid of them?

The answer: Principal Philbin

In before Marshall dropped too many passes

My guess... Dansby is best used as a 3-4 ILB. We used him as a 4-3 MLB. If we stuck with the 4-3, he was probably best suited as an OLB. And Marshall was a head case. Talented, but a head case

Dansby was the mouth piece of the locker room, Philbin didn't like it, and Marshall didn't have a QB to get him the ball so he was over paid.......RT would love Marshall right now....

Maybe he didnt show up to training camp at 265 pounds.

I guess Philbin had to make his point of getting rid of the entire Leadership Council which I'm pretty sure Dansby was on....Same with getting rid o f Bush after a career year....imagine how much easier it would be for Ryan Tannehill right now if he had both Marshall and Bush on offense...I'm hating Philbin more and more every day....Just to prove a point that he's in charge he gets rid of the most talented players on the entire freaking team?? No wonder we haven't won a playoff game in over a decade...philbin is a joke and then somehow we keep him after firing everyone around him??

We gave up two 2nd round draft picks for Brandon Marshall. He has enormous talent but the issue was his behavior off the field. He has a long history of bashing women, going back to his college days at Central Florida. It was subsequently identified that he has a borderline personality disorder. This is a very serious mental health condition in which he just fixates on himself and is extremely difficult to live with. In one incident he was stabbed by his wife while in Miami.
Since leaving the Dolphins and going to the Bears, he has been a model citizen. His QB, Cutler has been very supportive and they appear to combine well. Denver and Miami couldn't manage him and he was a danger to himself and his wife, but in Chicago there are reports that he has made progress with his condition.
The interesting thing is that Ireland kept on recruiting and drafting players with fairly big mental health issues. Brandon Marshall, Davone Bess, Richie Incognito, Jonathan Martin all had serious mental health issues. There may be others. Some might say that this was Jeff's blind spot. I would argue that they were not properly evaluated and this was a major deficiency of the Dolphin evaluation process.

Btw those numbers from Dansby really are absolutely insane....he said he was the best linebacker in the league a couple years ago and honestly those numbers almost prove it....I've been looking some stuff up and I think last year for him was the best year a linebacker ever had statistically in the history of the entire NFL......crazy

You might wanna pay attention to WHO Dansby was playing next too in Arizona. Is he Good/Decent? Sure! But, no where that good.

After some quick research ...guys like Patrick Willis and Brian Urlacher have never came close to matching a year like that statistically......I mean Urlacher had one year with four interceptions and 5 sacks but he only had eight passes defended compared to 19...also he only had 90 tckl that year...guys like Lawrence Taylor or romanowski are impossible to compare because they did not keep track of passes defended or even tackles back then...but neither of them ever had a year with four interceptions....

anyway the conclusion of my research is that last year for Dansby was easily one of the best years statistically a linebacker has ever had if not.#1

he came to camp out of shape and sucked ass for 8 games. **** him.

marshell is a talented player but we sucked ass. had no options other than him and he got frustrated. hes a piece but hes not THE piece for an offense.

Ireland...

As for Marhall, good riddance for that guy! I could care less what he doe elsewhere. He gets all the passes because he whines if he doesn't. It really hasn't done Chicago much good has it? He is not a team player.

Look at Dansby's first 6 seasons in the NFL with Arizona. His best year was 2008 when he had 119 tackles, 4 sacks and 2 INTs.

His best year with Miami was 2012 when he had 134 tackles, 1 sack and no INTs.

This past season he had more passes defended than almost his first 4 years combined (had 21). He also had more sacks in 2013 than any other season in his career other than 2006 (he had 8). The bottom line is Dansby was always a serviceable LB for Miami but he was never a game-changer.

Brandon Marshall is another story. Ireland completely ****ed that transaction up.

How about this MLB from Cinci that later got suspended and 300 lb fat? Can't recall his name. He had something like 100 tkls 5 ints once.
