How bout the line?

The line was a huge improvement. I think the majority of the time they gave Gus more then enough time in the pocket to make plays, unfortunatley they did not give ronnie the holes though.

I didn't read thru the entire thread before posting, so someone may have already said this...

In week 6 when RW returns, if the line is blocking this well, no sacks, a passing threat, Ricky and Ronnie - Defense's will have their hands full and we should be able to exploit weaknesses like we haven't been able to in a while. Granted that there were a lot of offside's penalites against us, the line as well as Welker and Chambers and anyone else I forget (?) -it is typical of a team that has not played together long for and for the first game of the year - getting the kinks worked out. No doubt theline will improve with playing time, a single quarterback and great coaching.

It would be a stretch after only one game to make any reliable predictions. But, as I tend to do, stretching my neck out - you know, you only have to win 6 to win the Division and make the playoff's - I say SWEEP the AFC East!!!!

After last year's performance, there's no where to go but up so improvement should be expected. That said, I was relatively impressed, especially w/ the time Gus had to throw the ball. But those false starts are killing me. They have to stop this, and it has to come from w/in. There's really no drills to run in practice to solve this, so each player has to get it together and become disciplined.

a 12-2 new england would take the six win division sweep every time

Very good game and great job picking up and blocking against the blitzes all around, the line, the TE's and the RB's. I thought that was one of the key's. After getting blitzed in the preseason so badly I was worried and while one game doesn't cure all, there have been obvious improvments from last season and the preseason!

They did show improvement, but my God...those stupid off-side penalties have to stop!!

Yeah those suck but a few to show heart keep the Defense honest!

Just wait till teams start backing off defending the run so much. If Gus continues to make defenses pay for doing that, you will start seeing more twin safety sets against us rather than the strong safety up in the box.

Pass Pro and Blitz pickup (especially Ronnie's) reminded me of the halcyon days of Marino's pass block protection.
