We lost, but we came away with some very positive signs....

QB AJ Feeley - This kid is going to be great. {21-31-168 / 1TD / 1 INT} That's in ONE HALF, and up against one of the NFL's better secondaries. Try and imagine what will happen once he gets more comfortable, it's down right scary... :egads:

RB L. Gordon - Sure, he struggled some, but let's not forget it was his first game with Miami. He's going to be a solid RB for us this season, and once the OL starts gelling, he'll look much better....

OL - They needed a good showing, and IMO they did alright considering the situation{OL changes}. This is a makeshift unit right now, but once the starters have solidified their positions, and gel, it's all up hill from there....

WR's - M. Booker did very well IMO. At least he contributed. We couldn't say that last season when it was D. Thompson running routes. He'll get better in time as well. As for Chambers, the guy is a stud regardless of how he played against the Titans. R. McMicheal is a great TE, and he had an excellent game. He's got to start holding onto the ball better though. Over the last couple of years, he's cost us some big games losing the ball....

The defense, all in all, looked very good. Regardless of the running yards the Titans racked up, we only gave up 10 points on defense. Very respectful IMO...

I can't see any reason to feel down over thsi opening day loss. The Titans are a very solid team all around, and we gave them a game. I don't think anyone in football was expecting us to do that....

There are 15 more games, and that means 15 more weeks of watching this offense get better and better. No worries here... :shakeno:

PHINZ RULE!!!! :fire:

i reluctantly watched on tape delay, and i was surprised at some of the positives. gordon's fourth down run was a great effort, and there were a few times where he showed what he can do. he will only get better. i think the offense will come around.

Yah i watched the game yesterday and came away feeling exactly like you. I feel like we are a good team, or defintly going to be a good team, but just had a real poor performance. It just looked like we weren't ready. The only problem is the team still looks like its in preseason mode. But your right, its all uphill from here. I can't wait for next week!

I see I wasn't the only one who felt that way... It did seem very much like a Preseason game, with all the subbing with QB and RB... very preseason esque.

I think this team will be very solid down the line... I'm only hoping it's not to late.

All we need is a playoff birth and I think we can go far.

no need for gloom and doom people.

I can be and am disappointed that our offensive line looks like crap and our defensive line isn't stopping the run.

Well, I never like a lose, and Booker had a horrible game! Came up short twice for first downs, which were his fault (as said on TV) plus he had a big penalty on a big play. Yes he is new to the system, but he did not do very well!

Agreed.

I was seething mad at Dave for starting and sticking with Fiedler through two quarters, but i was transformed in the second half when Dave made the right call to go with Feely. If he had stuck with Fiedler I don't know how I would have felt. Having Feely in there gives me hope the rest of the way. I too think the defense played great and gave us several opportunities to win this game (recall Larry chester's forced fumble). The one Feely pic was ugly, but tolerable. It's a fixable mistake - he can't throw it up there when he's getting hit. Were this an interception off of an unpressured poorly thrown pass I'd say we have a lot to worry about.

In one half Feely gets 170 yards - and that is not including the fifty yards robbed of us by the blind referee (McMichael catch and fumble turned into incompletion). Feely gives you that sense of urgency, that hope that we haven't had here in a long, long time. It's why I don't feel so bad this morning. I can't wait for the next game to see what he can do for four quarters and a week's worth of work with the first team. When Feely starts opening his view of the field to include the deep half we're going to have a very nice offense.

I like what I saw from the backs. Minor ripped off a couple of big runs, Morris looks good and Gordon could be our workhorse back. I would definately activate Leonard Henry this weekend. He's a big back who knows the offense. I'd go with Gordon, Henry and Minor as an emergency.

Oline looked decent to me. It's not like last year we had a line that could improve. That seems to be the case this year. Each week since the first game of the preseason the line has gotten better. Did you see the hole Minor had to run through on his nice run?

Overall I'm in agreement that things are looking up and I can't wait for Sunday Night when Miami shows a national audience that we're going to be fine. this isn't the same Dolphins team everyone's used to.

Oline looks young but talented. They are getting better every week and McIntosh should be ready to go shortly. The Qb's had ample time to get the ball out. Yes there were some mistakes but the season is young. Also, you saw the holes that the line opened up in the run game. Minor had a big run. Morris had a couple (one called back because of Booker's holding). Then the backs got hurt and we had a newbie in there with one day's practice and HE performed decently - all things considered.

As for the run defense, you take away the two big runs and we're not looking so bad. We obviously are not the same team when Tim Bowens is out. But we're not as bad as the stats show. A broken play, the safety takes a bad angle and the RB goes for 60.

I'm sorry, I don't mean to be harsh, but that old "take away the x big runs" thing is what losing teams say. It's an excuse, nothing more. GOOD defenses don't allow the big runs in the first place.

Those first two words are the only real reason I am disappointed. I agree that there quite a few positives to take away from the game. However, there were a few negatives too. As someone else pointed out it did seem like a preseason game still. Seems like our fearless leader (DW) still has no clue on what to do. Our D and O still need some work, but it is game 1 and still a long season. GO PHINS!

that is wrong. Good defenses allow big runs, however it is generally good run. Not even the great baltimore defense stopped every runningback from breaking off a big run now and then.

No, that was right. The good defenses don't allow 100 yard+ games from a single running back, and to get a 100+ yard game, you generally have to have a couple big runs.

Depends on the back. Depends on the offense. Ricky Williams had many 100 yard games iwthout a big run. Same with Eddie George. Heck Priest holmes only had one run last year that was 30+ yards, I know he had multiple 100+ games.

Man, it's nice to read some positive opinions! Yeah, there were some VERY disappointing things in Saturdays game, but I absolutely agree that there were also a lot of good things to take away from the loss.
