I have been on the recieving end of two blows to the head playing ice hockey over the past couple years and was not aloud to return to the ice for three weeks. This is our 30 and over league policy. Was he out cold, I couldn't tell because the bar I was in was so packed. Has he been cleared to play next week? If so he will get hit once and be carried off the field. There is no way a bruise to the brain can heal in one week.

I thought the same thing. I think it's possible he might just be bluffing and Sage COULD start.

Gus took hard hit and a short nap out there. I know that concussions are cumulative and counting the one that he inflicted on himself with the goalpost, that makes 2 that I know of.

I know that Troy Aikman played well through several concussions so it is possible...

I believe during the telecast, I heard them say he was woozy but did NOT lose conscienceness (sp). Not sure, but I do remember seeing him blinking.

It really depends on how severe the concussion is.

It looked like he was out but he may have just been enjoying the pretty colors. And remember, that was the same telecast that pegged Chambers for 8 drops when he only had 2-3 (depending on who you believe)

Hey everyone

Gus has done a decent job ...

Sage had a incredibal game but he has also had some bad games so what do we do..

Start Gus if he sux we switch QB's at the half thats what i think but i think Gus has done good he has been throwin good balls latly just WR"s have been dropin em..
Ill take Gus but if he starts suckin then i would put in Sage

why not start sage? he did save the playoff hope and the season. i think he earned it with his phenomenal play against the bills.

I agree.

There is one problem with Sage that can only be corrected by playing and that is his comfort level with the game. Sage does very well when he doesn't have time to out think and second guess himself. When he has been put into games with limited time to prepare, he has done an incredible job. The times he has practiced to start, he has done very poorly.

Only time in real game situations can cure that or prove that it can't be overcome.

I think the reason for not starting Sage is because theres a better chance at setting Sage up for success if he has to come in half way through the game. We all know and Saban has stated that Sage seems to play better in the 2 min offense off the bench.

If he starts Sage and Sage blows like he did in Cleveland then Saban will feel pressure to put Gus in (which he probably would) this would undermine any confidence that Sage might have.

By not naming Sage as the starter (but maybe giving him more 1st string reps at practice?... who knows) Sage wont have to stress over the expectations.

We all know Saban has said time and time again that he wants to set his players up to be as successful as possible. In looking at the way Sage plays... I think this gives him a better chance than if he maintains a starter role for the week.

now this is a long shot.. but lets say Sage comes into the game in the second half.. and we some how squeek out a win.. this will increase Sages confidence thus getting him more preparred to possibly start in a future game.. if anything I think Saban knows how to deal with the psychological aspects of playing when it comes to players.

guess we will have to wait and see :)
