There's the ongoing debate about whether Chris Chambers is a true number #1 receiver. Some cite his tendency to drop easy passes and make circus catches on consecutive plays throughout his career. Well after Chambers' monster game, I decided to compare his stats to other #1 receivers in the AFC. I ranked the receivers based on their receiving yards. Based on this Chambers is not doing that bad, but maybe the numbers are deceiving. Check the stats and post your thougths.

Chad Johnson - 71 receptions 1139 yds 7 Tds
Marvin Harrison - 66 receptions 855 yds 10 Tds
Chris Chambers - 60 receptions 837 yds 6 Tds
Eddie Kennison - 52 receptions 819 yds 4 Tds
Deion Branch - 65 receptions 800 yds 4 Tds
Hines Ward - 56 receptions 792 yds 9 Tds

Chambers is talented but the inconsistency drives me up a wall, he should honestly have 70-74 cathches and 120-160 more yards if he would just catch the ball. I am going to stop kicking the dead horse now. IMO he is to inconsistent to be a top tier reciever.

Everyone is going to question CC's abilities as a receiver because of many "key" catches he has dropped this year. Over all, numbers wise he is having a pretty good year, but imagine how well he would be doing without those easy catches he has missed!! Unfortunatley many people concentrate soley on the negative things that are happening & the positives get brushed aside. With all that being said, CC is a great receiver but i think his concentration has been lacking a little bit this year. He is now a veteran wideout for us that needs to step it up and become one of the next leaders for our Phins.

Chambers is a number 1 reciever with a number 2's concentration. If he gets that in check, he may get a few pro bowl visits before he retires.

if CC becomes more consistent and cuts out those mental errors hed be a top teir WR but hes too inconsistent right now hopefully that big game gives him something he can build on .

Consistency is the key for Chambers. If you remove his 15 catches for 238 yards that were compiled in only ONE game (go ahead and remove his worst game and replace it with his average game too if you want), he's nowhere near that pack you posted.

I realy think that once he settles in to this offense and gets comfortable with a qb he will be a pro bowl wr. Realy need to find that qb though.

once we get a REAL QB (no carr,no harrington, no boller, no brooks, no frerrotte, no lemon, no ****), chambers will put up even better stats.

The problem is that CC is thrown to more often than the other wrs on that list. Actually he's been thrown to more than anybody else in the NFL. IMO the numbers prove the point that CC needs more opportunities than other #1 wrs to achieve similar production.

Exactly

Numbers Don't Lie Is In Top 10 Of Wrs Stats, Could Be Top 5 If He Didnt Make So Many Drops

But thats where I think stats can be misleading. Chambers does drop his fair share of passes, but there have been a lot of throws to him through the course of the year that have been awful and uncatchable... so though he has had more passes thrown to him, you have to factor in the bad passes too.

I agree. Balls thrown to dosnt meen balls that should have been caught. I would guess that a guy like Harrison has an opportunity to catch just about every pass that is thrown to him since he gets to play with Peyton. Chambers dosnt have that luxury.
