I believe he's awfully close. Csonka only rushed for 8,000ish yards, and played three seasons with NYG. Tonight he also eclipsed Csonka in all-time TD's by a RB.

Larry Csonka had 6,737 yards as a Dolphin and Williams has rushed for 5,319 yards up to this point. So he is 1,418 yards behind Csonka. So he still has a little ways to go.

I woudl be proud if he held that record at some point.
Chubbs

At one point I would have hated if he held the record.

All men make mistakes the great ones learn from them and use them to learn when they fall.

Ricky has proven he deserves the record if it is in the cards. He has proven a lot in my book by stepping up and being a man about his mistakes.

He has been an MVP for this offense since hes comeback. It does not surprise me that he did well last nite. Csonka is the reason Im a dolphin fan but i would not mind if Ricky broke his record.

He would be a lot closer if the coaches would have been smart enough to get Ronnie Brown the **** out of his way and let Ricky destroy our opponents.

He would be a lot closer if the FO wouldve been smart enough to pull the trigger and trade Ronnie for a good receiver.

He will get a lot closer if the FO figures out its in the teams best interest to either let Ronnie walk or say to the guy.....

"Look, youre a good RB but we have an ELITE RB in Ricky and we need him carrying the ball 20+ times per game. If you would like to come back at the veteran minimum and can handle getting between 5-10 carries per game and doing some other things to help the team win we would love to have you. But, we understand if you want to go somewhere else for more money and be the starter while splitting carries with someone(He has to split carries even if he is the starter. Thats been proven his whole career). But, you would be our lead guy if Ricky get injured and then we would give you that consideration financially on the sly."

I wonder if the Panthers fans have these arguments on their boards about which running back is better .... DeAngelo Williams or Jonathan Stewart. The Bengals now have Cedric Bensen and Larry Johnson as their backs. I guess their fans will be doing the same thing now.

Having two good backs in the same backfield is just smart. The idea is for the team to not miss a beat regardless of WHO is the running back. Running backs take a pounding every time they run the ball. It's better to make it through the whole season with at least one of your top backs still healthy. That way it increases the odds of the TEAM winning.

It makes me wonder, Ricky said he'll retire after 2010, but later said that he could continue to play past 2010 if his body feels good. Imagine how much his stats could increase if he remains healthy and keeps staying fresh with Brown or another back. I hope he hits 10,000. Improbable, but it'd be great.

Just so you know, if you knew Ricky personally, he would hate you for wanting Ronnie to not be on this team so bad.

There will never be another Larry Csonka. That era is over. He was the greatest Dolphin ever.
