The yahoo playoff generator says Miami gets in if:
* Jacksonville 8-8
- Pittsburgh 8-8
- Baltimore 8-8
* Houston 8-8
* Tennessee 8-8
= Miami 8-8
This doesn't make sense to me.
If you apply NFL.com's tiebreakers
Eliminate all but the highest ranked club in each division
That leaves Jacksonville, Baltimore, and Miami
They all have the same conference record
Common games:
Jacksonville Miami Baltimore
0-2 vs. Indy 0-1 vs. Indy 0-1 vs. Indy
1-0 vs. KC 1-1 vs. NE 1-0 vs. KC
0-1 vs. NE 0-1 vs. SD 0-1 vs. NE
0-1 vs. Cle 2-0 vs. Cle
1-0 vs. SD
This eliminates Jacksonville, so go to the two-team tiebreaker format
Conference record is the same, so go to common games minimum of four
This eliminates Jacksonville and Baltimore, so go to two team tiebreaker
Miami and Baltimore have the same conference record.
There aren’t four common games, so go to strength of victory.
Miami has been outscored this year, Baltimore has outscored their opponents by 122 points.
Shouldn’t Miami be Mathematically eliminated?
Anybody want to explain why everyone says Miami still has a shot.
Thanks
