the CBA isn't renewed by March 3rd and it either delays the start of FA or the worst case scenario happens and we have a capless year in 2007 (which I believe is highly unlikely)? As it is now, I wish FA started yesterday but if I have to wait longer than March 3rd, I think I'd go crazy!!! The NFL is by far the best run professional sports league for fans and I hope that the labor rift doesn't last very long so that it can be business as usual in the NFL.

it would suck if it got delayed but it could because they always delay **** like that

An uncapped year would be bad for the sport of football, but as we have a very rich, willing owner, it could be very very good for us.

I have thought about this some. At first I thought that the owners could hold the line for a year at least and then someone reminded me of the Snyder weasel. No matter how this fleshes out we will do OK. We have a rich owner if it goes that way and very capable coach if it doesn't. But like Phinfan2003 said about goin' crazy, I just want stuff to happen...I am eager for the next piece of the puzzle.

The CBA talks are a key to the foundation of the NFL at this point in time folks.

I seriously hope they get this thing done soon.

I read somewhere that the current CBA does not expire until 2008. Some kind of side agreement was put in place that 2007 would be a cap free year unless the deal was done before free agency started in 2006.

Interesting.

If they push FA back it could be absolute anarchy.

Odd times they are approaching.

This is the NFL not MLB or NBA. It's not as easy as just buying a championship.

What makes the NFL so great is that every team, regardless of what market they are in have just as good a chance as any to win it all because everyone is on the same playing field. You can't say that in MLB or the NBA. I'm a big Mets fan but I don't enjoy the fact that teams like the Pirates or Royals have a decidedly lesser chance to be champions (or at the very least sustain championships) because of the huge gaps between the haves (Mets, Yankees, Red Sox, Braves, etc.) and the have nots (Royals, Pirates, Devil Rays, etc.) Due to this, I never want the NFL to go capless even if we'd benefit from it.

that's all that dolfans should care about. Honestly, why would a dolfan be opposed to no cap? Do you care what happens to the Cardinals or teams with cheap and lazy owners/FOs.

No because when they reinstated the cap we would be screwed, thats what happend to the 49ers they bought a superbowl one year, next year the cap comes and to this day they still have Jerry Rice on the cap

Spending a lot in an uncapped year would be a terrible mistake

There aren't have-nots in the NFL? Ha!

Do you care more about the feelings of Pirates fans than the Mets? Do you care more about the feelings of Browns fans than the fins?

Maybe I didn't explain myself quite clearly enough. I am aware that big-market teams will bring in more money than the smaller market teams in the NFL. However, they can't use this to their advantage w/ a salary cap (in regards to which players they sign. I guess they can spend the extra money on coaches and FO personnel). The NFL salary cap is a hard cap and every team is pretty much at or near the salary cap every year. I like this because everyone has an equal chance to compete year in and year out. Personally, I don't like the fact that there is such a gap between the payroll of the Mets and teams like the Royals. Do I care about the Royals or their fan's feelings? No! But I believe it's a decided advantage given to teams that are from bigger markets. Have smaller market teams w/ smaller payrolls ever beaten out larger market teams? Of course look at the Marlins beating the Yankees. Then look at the Marlins this year and you'll see the troubles faced by smaller market teams in trying to compete year in and year out. Personally, I prefer to have a cap to give every team an equal chance.

They'll get it done...this isn't hockey or baseball.

I would have to say that it's not as depressing as I first thought it would be. I'd be ecstatic if they actually got the CBA renewed sometime over the next 3 days.

I don't see any one owner having the ability to buy all the best players like they do in baseball.....every team is still going to be able to franchise their best two players.
