How did Jake Long look against the best Defense in football?

Good question, but as far as O-Line goes, if they don't call your name, thats usually a good thing...

but it was so damn hard to run against them, and it didn't seem that Jake gave up any sacks against them... Can anyone provide some in-depth analysis?

we couldnt run, but he looked really good in pass protecting.. from what i noticed

he was fine, one bad throw by pennington and the defense could not get them off the fiield with a rookie QB, but it is better then last season at least

The thing that impresses me again is the lack of mistakes. The o-line didn't play very well today but they didn't commit the 8-9 penalties that we've seen in previous Dolphin regimes. No false starts or holdings. Formation penalties. It's quite impressive.

This is true. Does anyone know how many yards per game we gave up in penalties over the past few years compared to this year? I think it would be considerably less these dyas. The sign od some well organised units.

Jake Long is the real deal. I played close attention to him today because I know Suggs would go up against him today throughout the game and he held his ground. Long is the best draft pick we have had since 2005. He is the real deal and a franchise player.

Did Jake Long play well?
he played well enough that terrel suggs gave him a huge compliment after the game saying how hes one of the best tackles in the game now and hes only going to get better.coming from someone who dosent rlly compliment players to often, it must mean alot.

Here's the full quote, from espn.com:
Jake Long wows Suggs: The interception for a touchdown aside, Suggs said Dolphins rookie left tackle Jake Long gave him fits. Long, the No. 1 overall draft choice out of Michigan, is 6-foot-7, 310 pounds.
"Jake Long is very impressive," Suggs said. "By far one of the best tackles in the game right now.
"He did a really good job. I've never struggled against anybody like I struggled against him today. He definitely impressed us. He's going to be a nice professional in this league."

Excellent, thanks for that.

Just a quick note:

Vernon Gholston: 0 sacks thus far
Chris Long: 2 sacks thus far

With a nice shout-out to Matty Ice and his fans, I think Jake Long is proving to be THE gem of this draft. We're starting to see why just about every team had Jake Long at the top of their draft board. His run blocking is instantly one of the most dominating in the league at any position and especially for a LT. It also appears that his pass blocking is truly elite, despite all the naysayers prior to the draft. And the two things that always go underrated, Jake is unbelievably durable, he doesn't get injured or miss snaps for health reasons, fitness reasons, character reasons, or contract-renegotiation reasons. And despite picking up 2 penalties in one game (1 was a phantom penalty and the other 1 desperation QB-saving deserved penalty), he really is a low-penalty player. I think Jake Long is living up to what Greyboy, Kdawg, me (Digital), and a handful of others said he would do--instantly show he is a dominant run blocker and a quality pass blocking LT.

Has the number 1 overall who just happened to be a LT ever made a probwl their first year?

Wow Suggs showed class. Nice to hear that about our Num 1 pick from a very good player.
