A few say they don't want Gates on returns. Why? Not good or too much of an injury risk. Does it have to do with his one muff?

Some of both. I think we wants C Gates working 100% of the time to be a starting WR. As for speed, he is more then fast enough but not maybe as quick as Livas is for punt returns.

The muff was big because it showed his lack of experience with it.

On the other hand P Livas tied the NCAA record with 4 returned Kick Offs for TDs and 4 returned punts for TD's.

Yes I did notice that. It's like he completely forgot he is on the team.

He will make the team--count on it. Sporano wants to keep him--he's the only guy lined up for returns in the last two games.

I just don't think there is room for him as just a PR/KR guy. I think WR is full right now and because of his size I don't think he can compete there.

I don't see him making it just as a specialist and he hasn't shown anything as a WR. Maybe practice squad material, but Moore is a better WR and even if he beats out Moore that means we'll be keeping 6 active WR's on the gameday roster because of Wallace's special teams ability. The numbers just don't add up for him

Omar Kelly predicts Roberto Wallace on the 53 with Moore and Livas both cut. That would be a big mistake IMO.

Omar also thinks that we should only go with 2 QBs. Why not have no QBs, and if we need one we can always pick one up the following week.

Several teams do this. We only had two QBs on our roster for about 8 weeks after CP10 went on the IR. Brandstater was on the PS as the quote unquote 3rd QB.

Not wise if we NEED to win this season. Better to have depth at the most important position-QB. Look what happened last year against Tennessee when Pennington and Henne went down. If it wasn't for #3QB Thigpen, we would have lost. Besides Devlin will be probably be the future QB of this team--you can laugh if you want (but there is no one else at this time).

Why not just put Devlin on the practice squad and only keep 2 QB's on the active roster?
