Just wondering if anyone could shed some light on how well Solai played vs JAX. Obviously he must have done well since MJD had the bad day, but I was wondering if anyone had any specific kind of information to provide.

One important stat to consider is that JAX runs up the middle more than any other team. The have run up the gut 200+ times (#1 in the NFL) and 50+ times more than the #2 team. Solai must have been doing something right.

So did anyone see anything worthy of noting? Something showing maybe he could be our future NT? The Tennessee game should really tell us a lot in that regard.

I thought he had a great game. No specific stats but he was definitely causing problems for Jax's O-line. I think the D-line combined for like 12 tackles.

I only noticed one bad play by him and it was on the Jax TD run. He got kicked out and they scored right through the hole. Having said that he had totally stuffed the same play for a 1 yard loss on the previous play.

Overall, he had a damn good game. He was in the middle tighter than a broken cork in a wine bottle.

I cant believe how impressive he has looked lately. i mean he is no wilfork or ngahta but he has definitely growing in leaps and bounds

if awesomelybestest was a word, I would use that to describe his performance...

hes doing well and was vital to shutting down MJD, his biggest gainer was to the outside on a 4th and 1, think he got like 15 yards... so really up the gut they had no success

Good eyes. Soliai was good for the stuff on first down but by third down he couldn't hack it. A rotation between two very high quality players would have helped there.

But honestly, what team stops MJD from bowling into the end zone from the one yard line twice in the same series?

Soliai did a good job in this game. He did a good job in the last game too, especially early.

I had to work so I wasnt able to watch the game but I listened to it on sirius and I heard Mcdaniels name ALOT so im guessing they rotated them two in and out?

our whole d line steped up ...mcdaniel,starks, wake, solia, langford all had a good game

On the most recent interview with Sparano the media asked him how Soliai was doing and his response was:
"his position coach's comment about him during the game in jacksonville was simply this: he was where he needed to be the entire game" and Sparano went on to say this is, while a simple statement, a very very good reflection on his ability to play nose during this game. This is very encouraging to hear.

he's been clutch. i was leaning towards getting a NT like dan williams early in the draft - but after how he's played - now i'm thinking wait and get someone like cam thomas late. i've been defending the guy for a few years now and it's finally starting to pay off. thanks paul.

I still think we should pick up a DT in the draft regardless of how Solai does...DT is a hard position to fill if someone goes down...we could use the depth especially if Ferguson doesn't coem back.

oh definitely. regardless of how he did we were still going to draft one. the one positive that came out of ferguson going down was we got to see exactly where paul was in terms of his starting potential - which it seems he has. with him playing so well we might be able to wait and grab a NT late - which parcells likes to do anyway. i was a heavy lean for dan williams - but now using an early rounder isn't a necessity. paul can hold his own.

This guy's improvement has been one of the brightest spots for us this season. He's made the loss of Ferguson go from disastrous to bearable, and also made our next draft a little less rigid.

Let's just hope this guy wants to keep working hard and remains dedicated. As Sparano has said, he feeds off success, so he just needs to keep getting a good running back bear hug or two every game.
