How did the dinner date go with Drew Henson?

Im not sure but i saw a post earlier somewhere, where it was saying that the dolphins representives, especially rick spielman was very impressed with drew henson

He liked his meal so much that he's gonna demand a trade to the dolphins....lol

Ozzy rules!!

I heard he really enjoyed the fries, but the quarter pounder was a little greasy.

Also the waitress gave bad service so Henson volunteered to tip her.

He told her "get another job" and the dolphins reps and Henson went laughing out the door like fat cats in a swanky casino...popped into a limo, and made a stop at "The Velvet Vagina" or "Double V" for a few lap dances before makin their way home.

Ok well all I really know is that sometime the next morning Spielman was quoted as saying that Henson is "as good or better" than any QB in the draft this year. Thems some high praises, cuz most of the NFL disagrees, not only putting him behind Eli Manning and Ben Roethlisberger in talent, but saying his 3 years off from football knock him into the 2nd or even 3rd round of the draft...some say as late as 4th round. The asking price of a 2005 second rounder seems definitely in line with what most of the league personnel guys are thinking.

I'll say this though and this thought just kind of occurred to me recently. Everyone assumes the 3 years off hurt his ability to lead a team...but what if they didn't? It could be possible, is all I'm saying, that his time off actually helped him in the long run to become a better football player. So many guys when they are drafted think they are already good enough and feel like they don't need to absorb what their QB coaches and everyone are trying to teach them about being a good QB in the NFL. They don't take things to heart or adjust. This is a lot of peoples' concern with JP Losman right now. They aren't sure how receptive he'll be deep down to coaching.

Well maybe the fact that Henson not only doesn't have his college success fresh in his memory, but actually has a more recent very HUMBLING experience in his mind in terms of baseball...maybe this makes him a clean slate...like a sponge willing to absorb whatever a QB coach tells him and wants him to do. This is an excellent time to have a good QB coach like Marc Trestman. I think the chances are a lot of the stuff he learned at Michigan won't be fresh in his mind but you know that the way he performed at Michigan he is capable of taking care of the football and being a team leader. He has confidence in himself as a QB which is good because his recent failure as a baseball player could have affected his confidence.

The important part is that he does not start right away. Chad Hutchinson may have been ruined this way. To make a good finished product you need to give him time to absorb the game again and put Trestman's teachings into action.

BTW somethin about this kid really does remind me of Troy Aikman. From his arm to his looks to his abilities to his confidence.

Between Henson and Rivers, we may just be finding ourselves choose between Aikman and Montana...and I do rank the two of them similarly (which is to say, behind Marino).

With his .230 something average in baseball, you know he had one on one with his instructor daily and knew the importance of it.

Good points on the "coachability" factor.

I think he'll be a little rusty in the 1st couple of games but it's not like he was sitting home swilling beer for 3 years.

Henson has always been very coachable, his Dad is a college football coach this is why you see that his Mechanics and knowledge of the game are so good and he is very smart with the football only 4 int the year he started. The thing that I like is he was so good in the year that he started and his coaches said he coulg have been even better if he practiced football in the offseason (played minor leauge baseball while in college)Talk about a busy life college, baseball, and football hell I just in college and thats hard enough. While at Mich. Carr had stated he was able to do this because of his knowledge of the game and that he was able to learn things very fast. Call me crazy but if we get him and we improve the Off I really think he will be starting by the end off the year. Another thing I like is he's already had the big money like a rookie and he just didn't go out and act like a kid and buy every thing which to me suggest that he is more mature then most rookies.

I saw that quote by RS, but then I also saw the quote like this, "Henson's arm is as good or better than any QB in the draft." IMO this is more likely what RS said. Still high praise, but not as likely to tip our hand.
