How did the largest active thread disappear overnight?

Stupid-huge threads put a big strain on the servers.
 
I was wondering that myself.. but if forced to speculate, I'd say that an agitating troll turned it racial, fanned the flames and then made a derogatory analogy about one of our most respected long-term posters who had firmly but politely took him to task on it. Was sawing zzzzzz's so don't really know what, if anything more happened afterwards, but frankly I was surprised to see that particular individual still a member on here in apparent good standing. :idk:

Have no clue what thread is being referenced but now curious as hell lol
 
With FH asking for money to keep this place running, shouldn't needlessly long irrelevant threads be deleted and taken off the servers to save bandwidth? Just wondering. I think certain threads should be archived, but others need to be deleted.
