Please take pity on a poor bastard without DTV and tell me how the o-line looked. I noticed we got a ton of penalties, were most of them from th o-line? Were they playing better than pre-season?

I was at the game. They are making strides, but gonna take time. They opened some nice holes for Minor and Gordon. But they still need work.

All Ill say is...

O-LINE? WHAT O-LINE?? :roflmao: :roflmao:

ESPN was showing good run plays the other day, and Schottenheimer came on and talked about this play called POWER I think. Basically LT ran to McIntosh's side, and from what I saw D-Mac was doing awesome. He was part of LT's great season.

From what I saw the Oline played decent on pass pro. Run blocking its hard to say cause Miami was playing catchup the whole game and they started slinging it.

it was encouraging to hear the game yesterday...at least when Feeley lead the TD drive.... to me for feeley to have the time to make those throws.. the line must have been good enough... now its pulling them together...keep the 1st unit together and let them gel.. PLEASE!!!

I taped the game and kept rewinding to watch the line play throughout the game. To be honest with you the only glaring weakness that I saw was the play of Wade Smith. On 3 or 4 occasions he just could not block his man and his guy either made the play or disrupted it in the backfield. And the sad part was that each time he got out quicked and not out muscled. Wade just couldn't touch him. On a couple of these plays we actually were running to the other side of the field and Wade's guy beat him badly. On a brighter note James held his own against that monster #92, Hayneworth I believe, and looked good pulling (like Jaime Nails used to). Whitley also held his own. Hopefully there is some upside there. I'm not sold on McKinney. He didn'y play poorly, but I've been watching his play since he started and he's nothing special...just another guy, a JAG as Maddog says. St. Clair looked pretty good as did McMicheal whan he was asked to block. Randy doesn't really overpower his guy but his guy rarely makes the play.

Bruce - agreed.

Wade Smith has been a weaker link. Seth McKinney / Tim Ruddy... not much of a difference. That's one of the reasons they were going after Damien Woody (went to the Lions).

How about Jeno James ? I saw him pulling and exploding into some linebackers.

Our line looks to be much more athletic than last year. However, it could be another long week with St. Clair and the sprained ankle.

Either way - it looks to be heading in the right direction. Wade Smith still isn't there - Damien McIntosh looked so different on that side in the Saints game. He's a much bigger presence and seems to be able to run block.

Finsfan13,

I've got to agree, McIntosh will be an improvement. And then if Whitley keeps improving we could have a solid, but not great O-line. And I hope that they let Hadnot compete with McKinney fot the C position next camp.

Blocking was there and I liked that. However, way too many false start penalties including one on McMike. It seemed like they couldn't get in three straight plays without a false start or hold. They kept negating positive yardage at the beginning of every stinkin drive. Of course it has been that way for two years. Everyone says that they will get better. I don't see why they wouldn't. I mean knowing the count should be rather easy compared to what goes on after the snap.

Well wait a second. St. Clair is probably gone. His ankle got trashed yesterday. So, either we move McIntosh over or play the rookie VC. I'm just glad we are deeper this year (knock on wood). I would expect them to move McIntosh into right tackle and maybe play a rotation or something with VC. Or move Smith but I think McIntosh has played more RT than Smith. Definitely going to be some movement yet. Unfortunately.

Drewoldschool,

The way Wade Smith played I'd rather see McIntosh take over at LT and our rookie Carey play RT. Smith has regressed from last year!

BDW,
Smith might have regressed but can we give up on him ALREADY ?
Carey is going to have his growing pains as well...
