How did sean smith and votae play today. I see smith had 2 tackles and vontae had one. I havent heard anything else besides our secondary was gettin picked on early in the game. What about these two specifically? thanks

Vontae was beaten for a couple of longer pass plays. Smith did okay but would've given up a long TD pass if Ryan hadn't overthrown a wide open receiver.

overall tho i dont think these guys did bad esp smith. He almost had a pick and most of the passing gains were on 3rd downs after we had them pinned..idk if that was due to a zone we were playing or what...all i know is we held atl to 10 points for most of the game and that should have won the game for us, but we blew every single shot at scoring that we had.

They got out of position a couple of plays, but those are rookie mistakes. I was impressed for their first game.

Basically what everyone else is saying. Sean Smith dropped a pick on a long pass, which actually would have hurt us more if he caught the pick and got tackled. Vontae was beaten a couple times, but he had a couple nice tackles, most notably a strong tackle on Jenkins in the backfield for a loss of a few yards.

Smith broke up two passes, got beat deep on an incompletion to White. Almost had a pick. Vontae had a nice open field tackle and not much else that I can remember for him.

Some rookie mistakes. They were out of position a few times and, beaten a few times. As has been mentioned, Smith was beaten bad on a double move. They looked like rookies playing thier first NFL game.

least they didn't miss tackling Tony Gonzo on his td like Yeremiah did. Now that was a bad play.

In general, the pass defense wasn't great. More of what we had last year, really. The Falcons moved the ball pretty well and it would have been worse if they would have executed better. But between the two of them, there was only one glaringly bad play between them, and that was the play where Smith got completely burnt deep. And Vontae made a really nice play on an open field tackle, which the rest of our team failed to do in some key situations.

For rookie D Backs they played about as you would expect. Vontae's tackle was a real nice read and react on a throw to the wide out in the flats for no gain. Smith came close to a pick and had a nice pass defense.
