If the Dolphins had chosen Drew Brees over Daunte Culpepper, how different would this organization be today. My general thought on this is not only do we not go through the horrific seasons but Nick Saban is likely still coaching this team..

Also, while we are at it.. Was that the worst decision made by the organization this decade?

I think everybody looked at it as which do you trust more. A quarterback coming back from major shoulder surgery, or a Quarterback coming back from knee surgery.

Back then, the Dolphins seemed to make the right choice. Hindsight is 20/20, so I'm just going to say if Brees was here, he'd pretty good, not great. He wouldn't have the weapons he has in New Orleans, so he'd probably be Eli Manning good, not Drew Brees right now good.

However, we probably would've been a playoff team in 06, and yes Nick Saban would still be the coach of the Miami Dolphins most likely.

I dunno man I have had my right shoulder operated on twice and both times the surgery was more involved then what Brees or even Penny has had. I am 32 and can still throw the ball with ease 65 yds and if I really get into it over 70, not to mention can knock a wrist watch off you at 50yds. If we were talking about a pitcher I would be concerned, but throwing a football is a different motion, and the shear size and weight of the football restricts the velocity your arm generates. Which keeps you generating to much force on the shoulder.

Having gone through that, I think Culpepper was more of a question mark, because it wasn't just the ACL. It took out 3 ligaments ACL, LCL, and MCL not to mention trashed his Meniscus. At the time he was a mobile QB and it really shows how bad it altered his game. A ACL surgery takes a full 12 months before you are at 100%, when you add the other 2 ligaments you are looking at 15-18 months. Brees only had a minor repair to his rotator cuff, the main goal of the surgery was to repair the separation which put his rehab in the 3-5 month range.

Hindsight being 20/20 I think we know which team had the better medical staff and made the more informed decision.

He would have sucked. Need the whole team to be good, not just one position. The Phins would have been "average"....

I dont know man I was thinking about this the other day but if we would of taken Drew. Our O-Line sucked. But to think of it the WR corps.. Chambers at the time dropped the easy ones but had amazing one hand catches. We had Wes and Rand M at TE.

With the Dolphins luck at that time, his shoulder would have "blowed out" ( in the words of Emmitt Smith ) after two games while Saban still made his escape to Alabama. All this while Culpepper went on to the Saints and returned to Pro Bowl form. We would then be able to enjoy posts questioning how could we not have picked Culpepper over Brees......

Personally, I believe it ended up working out for us, because I Like Sparano more then Saban (Sparano is man enough to tackle any problem, Saban will leave the monet things get tough), and even though I could never say with a straight face I like Henne more then Brees, what's to say Henne in the Future could not become as good as Brees.

Its not like Brees looked like a world beater when he was with the Chargers, in fact at his best with the Chargers, he looked like a very good QB, but never elite, he did not start looking like an elite QB, until he reached N.O.

We are going to be better off, then if Satan had stayed.
