I think the general consensus is to have faith in Saban, but I believe we might not have much of a reason to be optimistic. I don't know what our cap situation is, i think we are 2-5M over right now. Even with a few more cuts, we are still in a problematic situation. Getting under the 94.5M will be simple by cutting Frerotte and Seau. And yes we might still be able to afford Brees. But what about the rookies? And what about the half dozen roster holes we have on our team? Cutting people is great but there is still the cost of replacing them. I dont think there is enough money to pay for all these roster spots right now unless there is something I dont know or if we make a surprise cut. Hopefully I am dead wrong.

Each team gets so much money for their rookies so don't worry about them.

We're about middle of the pack. We're over the cap, and can't go spending like crazy in FA, but we won't need to make any big name cuts.

Thats right there is a rookie allocation pool. For some reason I thought that was NBA.

Relax. The fact that they keep postponing the beginning of free agency suggests that they are working really hard to extend the CBA. Especially the news today that suggests the sides are closer and the deadline is pushed back again! I'm quite positive something will get worked out, the players are the ones who will get screwed if they don't work something out and they know that, they're just playing the negotiation game. Anyway, I'm not sure about this but I thought there was a special pool added on to the salary cap for rookie signings, i.e. the rookie pool? Once a CBA is in place, we should have plenty of money to do what we need. And that cost of replacing players you speak of? It shouldn't be hard to replace players like Howard and don't forget we played without Seau all last year anyway. We'll be fine

Well Be Just Fine....Hey, Saban is still waaaaaaaaaay better than Wanny could ever hope to be!

Well for one the CBA isn't happening before the deadline so thats the main cause for my concern. Second, I'm refering to the cost of replacing them physically. Seau didnt play and Howard sucked but we still need to pay someone to take their roster spot. Thats what i'm worried about. Only so many players are willing to take vet min and they are probably not that great, our depth is a major issue at LB and DB right now. But the rookie pool is going to help.

Building an NFL team is about finding pieces that fit, not necessarily signing every star out there. Try and think of a free agent, or free agents that put a team over the top. The only one I can think of is Deion Sanders for the Niners.

A ton of vets are going to hit the street, and we all have seen how persuasive Saban can be in getting people down here. I think we'll be alright.

Remember, some of our toughest competition of the AFC will be hurt more than us. Denver and Indy to name two.

You need to read some of the reports from the last 90 minutes or so.....

Yeah I have a thread elsewhere where I mention how we need to build through veteran presence mixed with talented youth. I just dont know how far we'd be under the cap. Depending on that, it might not be feasible to put all our money into one player (Brees, though i would). There are a ton of vets out there but they won't play for peanuts, and I'm not talking superstars.

The cap will go up from 85 to almost 95 this year. Problem is our cap is at 85 with all the incentivse from last season.

And with a CBA extension it would of went up to 104 miliion or there abouts.

It's hard to see where anyone loses in this scenario.:shakeno:

Miami isnt exactly screwed and likely to release the core of the team.

But it's probabaly going to hinder their ability to be big players in the FA market.

I think it's not so much as a lack of a CBA really screwing Miami hardcore as it is having a CBA will be a huge benefit.

what is the deal with our money right now, does anybody have any idea or is it a enigma
