What WILL the Phins be doing?
During the month of July: do the players just stay in shape? Is there NO contact between them and the coaches? Do the coaches continue to burn the midnight oil, or does anyone actually take some sort of vacation? I can't imagine St. Nick vacationing. Only the day after he wins the Super Bowl does he probably say to the missus: "Okay, sure, you're right, pack the kids in the car, we're headed for the beach, just this once."

Anxious for July 29!

In an interview on the Dolphins official website, Saban said he has a place in North Georgia (probably on Lake Lanier) where his family goes for some R & R. He said he was bringing his laptop, so I wonder how much relaxing he's actually doing ...he's probably wearing out batteries on the laptop and his cellphone every day. I bet his wife is after him to slow down and pace himself. She's probably right.

He probably ought to cut way back on the coffee ...that stuff is worse for you than you think. Actually, I would quit coffee and drink a little green tea in the morning only. Too much caffeine makes people TOO intense and stressed out and messes up your sleep. I'd also stay away from the junk food, work out in the gym, get plenty of cardio, etc.

It's a long season, so he needs to be in good shape physically and mentally just like the players. Doing 80 hour weeks for months and months is bound to take a toll on you ...especially as you get older. I hear that a lot of the NFL coaches have burn out and heart problems. The team doctors should be monitoring Saban and all the coaches for their health too ...it's all about what's good for the team. :D

yeah, i was actually just watching this....july is just a month for relaxation and preparation mentally.

Wayne just took the ENTIRE coaching staff on the BBJ to Ireland for a golfing vacation. I suspect they might have had a nice time, and great team building. Everything, you can imagine, is a bit first class.

How do NFL players spend their money????

Most of them spend it very foolishly. Very very foolishly.

Whatever! Watchout as i drive down the street in by Tuscan Speed six with my Iced Out $150,000 Grill as a my $40,000 a night entourage tags behind me in my Bently Limosuine!

YEAH!!!!

You'd be surprised how cheap/frugal some of our guys are.

Baseball/basketball/entertainers make WAY more scratch, and blow it way faster. Quite a few guys ask the FO for advances and such. Discuss mortgage products, investments, and ask smart questions about the how the NFL's pension system works. Don't believe the hype.

Yeah I heard that too. I posted about a month ago about how I work at a country club owned by Wayne Huizenga; and how he flies up in his (kick a** Dolphins customized) helicopter fairly regularly. Anyways, about a week ago he brought Nick up to check out the club, they didn't play golf so I assume
Mr. H was inticing him to become a member. While he was there we found out about the trip to Ireland. Sounds pretty sweet, and probably much needed.

You work at Diamond Creek? Or a different course?

When I was a guide in the Keys, many of the players were my clients. Back then, training camp opened mid July. The end of June and early July were spent with the girlfriend or the wife. This in anticipation of living in the team hotel during training camp ;)

The good players start to kick it up a notch physically to be ready for camp. Mentally they will probably try to get into the football frame of mind but also try to get some time in the with kids, wife, family, dog, etc. Doing so kind of helps the process of becoming mentally prepared because they can focus more on football rather than thinking about how much they miss their kids, wife, family, etc.

Yeah I work at Diamond Creek. This is my first year out there, I'm a senior at ASU.
Excellent. Best wishes in your endeavors. I'm sure you'll meet all sorts of neat, nice people. My collegues are there all the time. Either I'm too low on the totum pole, or they saw my golf game @ the Floridian to get the invite up to Diamond Creek. But I've heard its very nice.

And to stay on topic, yeah, they probably do just what jason8er is saying:

Fark, Golf, & Fish. In no particular order or quantity.

Funny thing is, sub work/finheaven.com for Golf and you've got what I enjoy in the offseason as well. Kind of makes me feel like part of the squad. 54 strong, eh? :cooldude:

I'd say this is the month where mostly all the players and coaches go on vacation with there family.

A few of them probably stay and continue to workout and help prepare themselves for camp and the season.

I am a sophomore in college at Nevada, but am down south in Las Vegas for the summer working at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, and we throw a huge party on Sundays called Rehab.

This past Sunday I met Reggie Bush there, he was there along with Algae Crumpler, Rae Buchannon, and a few other familiar faces that I couldn't match names to. These guys came in and rented out our owners' cabana, which is $1,000 right off the bat for the day, plus a bottle minimum, and ran up a $1,500 tab in addition to that. This is Vegas and tips are damn near mandatory, definately expected, and the Bush party did not tip a dime to our ****tail waitresses or cabana attendants. Mr. Bush seemed nice when I met him, but I am just a pool attendant/lifeguard so I barely interacted with him.

Closer to the pool, there was a cabana right on the water with none other than Joey Porter and a few of the Steelers in it. Porter seemed very quiet in comparison to the rest of his party, who were all very loud and raunchy, trying to pull any scantily clad woman they could over to their cabana. Porter just sat there and gave everyone a mean eye unless one of the girls came up there. Word is that Porter & Co. tipped the very attractive Hard Rock ****tail waitresses, but failed to tip the guys (cabana attendants) helping them. Interesting.

In one of the back cabanas was basically the entire Tennessee Titans defense, I didn't see them but almost every other guy on staff that had seen them identified them. (not that the titans defense was very good, so i figure taking my break while they were there i didn't miss out on much).

On this same day Ken Shamrock was there, very class act (i know, not nfl related but still).
