It wasn't a sexy pick on the day, but it's looking a solid pick now. It sounds like we have some bigger problems on the O line rather than the rookie. What are your thoughts?

If he ends up a probowl Center great! Awesome! Tooty Fruity!

IMO,it was still the safe choice.Continually taking the Safe choice has gotten us back to back 7-9 seasons. Either way, he is ours now so I will root for him as hard as I have rooted for any other fin.

It is still too early to tell but I will tell you this if they don't let Pouncey live and/or die at center it is a huge mistake.

You drafting the kid to play as your center so he plays center this season.

Well the OL has sucked so bad this preseason even with Pouncey so I guess it would be even worse without him. So yea, I guess it was the right pick, but then again they could have gotten a different player and just signed a pro bowl center in FA(Gurode) but they obviously didn't know that before the draft.

I liked it from the beginning, but hopefully he can have a great season. We filled a huge need with that pick, but we didn't do much to address the rest of our needs besides "speed". Hopefully our o-line can improve from how they played in the offseason.

Stupid pick. Just another cornfed lineman for the carousel of incompetence that is our O-Line. You could spend a dozen 1st round picks on this line (given time, Sparano will) and it will still suck.

The last 4 months have shown that he still wasn't worth what we gave up for him. That drafting a center that high hasn't yielded enough value for what we spent.

For one, there was a string of former pro-bowl/all-pro interior offensive lineman that hit free agency, all of whom could have helped us out at least in the short term for a much lower cost.

Second, our offensive line still appears to be hot garbage, despite having 3 former first rounders on it(and yes, Long didn't play, but he doesnt play in the positions that were glaring holes). Would it look worse without Pouncey and passing on free agents? Probably. Has spending another high first rounder on an interior lineman solidified the unit? Nope. Our quarterback was still under constant pressure and our run game was still poor. Pouncey hasn't had nearly the impact his brother did, who immediately became the Steelers best lineman after he won his starting job.

All that being said, the Pouncey pick looks genius compared to the Daniel Thomas pick.

We should have traded down.

I hope it works out...But why did we ever trade Satele? Him and Pouncey seem like very similar players..Not very physical but athletic.. Meanwhile Satele is in Oakland anchoring a pretty decent line.. I admit when Grove first came here it was a huge upgrade...but we know how it turned out.

really good, watch film. yeah makes some mistakes, but what he does overall spells talent. Did you see him pancake Brian Price for Tampa? thing of beauty!

ever consider your speaking too soon? what do any of us really know?

I would have like to have traded back, and gotten someone like Carimi. That's what I said at the time, and it would certainly have been convenient now, because that would mean that Columbo wouldn't be starting for us.

The problem I have with that pick is that on one hand we have Hyde saying that Sparano is willing to spread the offence and open up the playbook and on the other hand we have Pouncey as our #1 pick... Which one is it? Are we playing safe and play for FGs or are we going try and score some TDs?

If he is a Probowler just like Long doesn´t matter because Ryan was picked after Long and Dalton and Mallet were picked after Pouncey and for me those names meant hope...

uh, not very physical? you must not be watching. i got it on tape, rarely did you see pounceys guy getting in and he goes second level as well. always looking for someone to hit.

1st Round Picks are very easy to Judge, It all boils down to 1 easy formula.

Do you have a Franchise QB?

If Yes, Select your #1 need
If No, Then select your QB, if you dont select your QB then anything else you pick is irrelevant.
