How do we feel about the Pouncey draft pick, 4 months later?

It was a good pick in order to open up the offense ya have to have a good o line. That being said I wish in fa we would of picked up a guard that could pull and moved incognito to rg and left Carey at tackle. I can't wait till he pulls and leads a screen pass he can move for a lineman I think he can b a pro bowler just like his bro. I think it's way to early to judge him though wait till next year with a full off season and a little time at center.

IMO, without Pouncey, we would have zero hope, and Chad H would not survive the season. I was pretty content with this pick, because he was the best player that could step in & start in a position of need. A QB would have sat on the bench for most of the year, a RB (Ingram) would have been good, but with the way the line is going, would have done sfa..

Even if Pouncey plays guard for the 1st year then goes to centre next year, he will still solidify the line and be a starter for years to come.

So far, and yes its very early, I am still satisfied with this pick.

its probably cause baltimore already has...

'Lining up' means more than one. He was released and there weren't multiple teams drooling over him. In fact, a few teams worked him out and passed. If he was anywhere near what he used to be, he would have been snatched up within 48hrs.

I hope it works out...But why did we ever trade Satele? Him and Pouncey seem like very similar players..Not very physical but athletic.. Meanwhile Satele is in Oakland anchoring a pretty decent line.. I admit when Grove first came here it was a huge upgrade...but we know how it turned out.
C'mon, don't lie yourself.
Mike Pouncey is taller and stronger than Samson Satele.
Satele has a very cool technique, but don't ignore he has been playing on a very weak conference with strong supports of his guards. During his days as Dolphin, against massive NT he was being smashed week by week.
In fact now without Gallery things will get weird for him and teammates from time to time.

i don't agree with that at all...i see plenty of names on here people bring up who are either washed up or flat out garbage...as for the gurode thing i'm willing to bring you in for a look see if you meet oline size requirements...thats how bad this oline projects to me in certain situations...damn right i'm jumping all over the need to kick the tires on any veteran olineman who might be able to help us in the short term even

The line needs help no doubt about it. You will see just how much help this Monday when ol' Vince and Albert come on the field in the fat man package. If Groude had a center/guard background I would be all over bringing him in but he a center and unless you are willing to proclaim you 1st round draft pick of 2011 a bust then Miami doesn't need Center help they need a right guard and right tackle.

As for Samson, he works well in a zone/pulling O-line, not nearly strong enough for the bulldozer scheme installed here.

How do you know they could have traded down? were u in the "war room" with Ireland and Sparano, Ireland already said after the draft that they tried to move down but there were no takers. Its easy for you to just say "they should have" this and should have that

For the 28th pick in the 1st round, New England acquired the Saints 2nd RD pick and their 1st next season. You're telling me that no one was offering anything for the 15th pick? If you're going to give me some bull**** about Tony and Jeff not having that luxury because they're coaching/GMing for their jobs, I'll tell you that is exactly why they should have been fired. Tampa Bay - for instance -still had two players who probably interested them a great deal (Amukamara and Kerrigan) on the board at 15. One of my best case scenarios was picking up another 1st in next year's draft so that we had chips to bargain for Barkley or Luck (whichever isn't going #1). We could have put ourselves in that position. Instead, we're again attaching our hopes to Henne, a complete bust of a year, or whoever falls to us in RD 1 next year.

The last 4 months have shown that he still wasn't worth what we gave up for him. That drafting a center that high hasn't yielded enough value for what we spent.

For one, there was a string of former pro-bowl/all-pro interior offensive lineman that hit free agency, all of whom could have helped us out at least in the short term for a much lower cost.

Second, our offensive line still appears to be hot garbage, despite having 3 former first rounders on it(and yes, Long didn't play, but he doesnt play in the positions that were glaring holes). Would it look worse without Pouncey and passing on free agents? Probably. Has spending another high first rounder on an interior lineman solidified the unit? Nope. Our quarterback was still under constant pressure and our run game was still poor. Pouncey hasn't had nearly the impact his brother did, who immediately became the Steelers best lineman after he won his starting job.

All that being said, the Pouncey pick looks genius compared to the Daniel Thomas pick.

you cant base your draft picks on who was cut later because how was miami suppose to know that there were serviceable players that would be cut.... miami had to beef up the o-line and they got the best one out there

i think most people were mad at the pick becuase they wanted a QB there and to look back, the QB they wanted with the first round pick ended up being a 3rd rounder... great evaluation guys....
