What I would do:

1. Sign Sean Payton: Lets get a coach who's been there, done that. Bring some credibility to our team, after all the goons we've had at our helm. Assuming a 3rd rounder would do the trick, and I'd pull the trigger.

2. Cut: Grimes, Jennings, Cameron, Dion Jordan: Would talk restructure only with Grimes, though It'd have to be a substantial drop from his current contract. Assuming he'd balk and want to go to a better franchise, especially considering some of Miko's comments... I'm assuming Grimes feels somewhat similiar. As for Dion Jordan, I'd talk with the new regime and see if they are interested in keeping him. Whatever they say, I'd do.

3. Restructure Cam Wake: He's not the same player. But he's still an effective NFL player and one of our best defensive players in franchise history. Would hate to see him not retire a Dolphin. Obviously, he costs too much currently, but if he's willing to take a fair restructure, let's do it.

4. Resign Miller and keep in touch with Vernon: Resign Lamar Miller and GIVE him 15+ carries a game. Vernon is an interesting case, and a situation I'd compare to Jared Odrick. I wouldn't commit to give him a contract, but let the market dictate whether or not I sign him. Figure out a price tag, and don't go over it.

5. Go big on FA Guards and CB: Generally speaking, the values in free agency can be found in Guards and CBs. Be aggressive by grabbing two Guards, cut Thomas, and move Turner to the bench. I think Turner has some upside, so that would improve our depth. Also make finding a depenable swing backup a priority with our Tackle injuries. Assess CB class and find depenable replacements. Wouldn't break the bank however.

6. DRAFT:
1st round- BPA between LB, CB, DE
2nd round- BPA between the two positions you didn't draft
3rd round- Traded for Payton
4th round- BPA in position of need
5-7 round- BPA regardless of position

In conclusion: We wanted a young offense to grow together. Let's keep it together. Tannehill is the elephant in the room, but his contract makes him our unquestioned starter for next season. Get a vet (Moore is fine) and make Tannehill's leash a short one. Find a TE to replace Cameron, and Parker to replace Matthews. Make our O-Line a strength and lets go to war.

Defense: Lots of turnover. Tons of variables to know what it will look like. But the goal would be to replace both CBs, draft heavy on DEF, and see what happens. Hard to fix a unit in one season. But worse case scenario, the unit is as bad as this season, but younger with better prospects and chips.

As for Dion Jordan, I'd talk with the new regime and see if they are interested in keeping him.

I stopped reading right there because if whoever we bring in wants to keep Jordan on the roster, I'll be ready to clean house again and bring in smarter people.

Because the Ireland/Philbin regime did their job to keep Jordan motivated, by giving him inconsistent playing time and screwing with his role seemingly every week?

Jordan's failures are on him, absolutely. But the team did not do him any justices either. You think he'd be making mistake after mistake on a team with any structure? Probably not.

very easy!
1-get a new owner
2-find a team president
3-find a new GM
4-find a new coach
see very easy.

Going to take at least 3 years. Hope you are patient.

Not neccessarily true. Jets retooled in a season. We have a better current team than their squad last year. Difference is spending wisely and finding the right players. Finding the right coach is the start. Look what Bowles has done with their players. Or the playcalling with Fitzpatrick. Majority of coaching staffs don't get 3 years to prove themselves.

The part I bolded conflicts with the rest of your post, but that aside, if the way he was used was the reason Jordan is in the position he's in right now, then why aren't any other players in the same position? This team has screwed with plenty of players but we haven't seen a whole bunch getting multiple suspensions for illegal substances. You're just making excuses for Jordan. That pick and the lousy deal we made to get it are a stain on this franchise. The sooner it goes away, the better.

How am I contradicting myself? Note that in my original post, I had Jordan labeled as "CUT." I'm not making excuses for him at all, but merely saying he's a former 3rd overall pick, who still has a large ceiling. If the new coaching staff believes they can use him in a productive role, and feel like they can keep his nonsense under control, why shouldn't he be our reclamation project, instead of being another team's?

There are always talented NFLers who do well with a change of scenery. Not necessarily saying Jordan WILL live up to his 3rd overall billing, but it looks like with our FO changes and coaching staff, Miami will also be a new atmosphere for Jordan.

Draft all defense.. Sign 2 guards in FA.. Get an experienced coach.. Get lucky too

This is the post to which I responded. I've omitted one line.

In this post you're blaming the team for Jordan's failures. Nothing there puts the responsibility on Jordan. Everything there says the team failed Jordan.

And for some inexplicable reason, you slipped this sentence in the middle of that.
Jordan's failures are on him, absolutely.

No where else in that post which is entirely about Jordan failing do you put the blame on Jordan. The entire rest of the post puts the blame on the team. That sentence contradicts the rest of the post.

...he's a former 3rd overall pick, who still has a large ceiling.
He's a three-time offender who is one slip away from a lifetime ban (or whatever they do to you when you slip up a 4th time). His ceiling disappeared around the same time his good judgement disappeared. He's not worth the money, time, and effort at this point because one slip by a guy who has shown he has no ability to follow the rules will make it all a wasted effort.

If the new coaching staff believes they can use him in a productive role, and feel like they can keep his nonsense under control, why shouldn't he be our reclamation project, instead of being another team's?
If we bring in a coach whose big idea is to hire a 24 hour nanny and try to make a player out of Jordan, then we've hired an idiot.

Again you're blaming the team for Jordan's failures. Jordan's problem isn't the atmosphere, Ireland, Philbin, or any other damned thing. Jordan's problem is Jordan.

There are 4 positions I'd upgrade... 1) A legit #1 CB, 2) a 3 down MLB, 3) an above average OG, & 4) a better 3rd OT.

Then, you'd need a HC who is a motivator and a strategist. Lets not forget an OC who can adapt to his scheme to his personnel, situations, & the opposing D.

I mostly wrote about the coaching staff's blame because I figured writing why Jordan's at fault was unnecessary. We all know how Jordan failed the team. I'd say Jordan's failures are roughly 75-80% his own fault. But 20% of the blame likely rests on our clueless regime. Keep in mind, the same regime allowed the whole bullying scandal to hit the fan. This thread isn't meant to point fingers at who is at fault, but whether or not he would be a good roll of the dice. Bottom line, some team will take a chance on him. Why not it be us?

As for your comments about bringing in a nanny... Dallas has gotten plenty of production over the last few seasons from Dez Bryant, Greg Hardy, and Rolondo McClain. All of whom were considered head cases and needed some sort of support. Jordan's issues aren't anything heinous. He's a young stupid kid, who took banned substances. Do you think his lack of playing time and inconsistencies with his role on defense played even the slightest role in taking those substances? Definitely possible. And from what I know and with the current staff in charge, I cut him. But if we hire a legitimate coach who feels like he can mentor Jordan, help get his life together, and make him into a playmaker that this defense desperately needs? We should take that gamble.

Need a new owner. New coach. New QB. That will be a start. Tannehill just ain't going to play well when wins are a must. Ross is beyond a moron. I like Campbell but he simply ain't ready to Head Coach yet. Overall Ross is going no where. Tannehill is our QB next 3 years and we probably keep Campbell. Jets step up. Buffalo getting better and Pats are the Pats. Get ready for a long miserable 3 years.
