As much as many of you on this board would like to add Howard to your cut list, I think he makes the team without a second thought. With him, I see Madison, Daniels, Tillman, Bell, Jones, and Schulters likely making the team. The perplexing thing is who fills the rest of this group out? I really expect a surprise here, such as a pick-up or trade. Richard hasn't been as bad as many have stated. But I am just not sure about him. Saban knows this area of the team best and I am sure he will do the right thing.

madison, daniels, howard, edwards, eiland

bell, schulters, jones, tillman.

i think our starting secondary will do ok, it'll be our depth that hurts us... shulters and tebucky (when both healthy) will be a solid safety combination... madison we know will do ok, and we've seen travis and know hes gonna do great for a rookie... at nickle hopefully howard steps it up with saban teaching and will do adequate from there...

so i think the starting lineup there will do ok, its if someone gets hurt where we might have a problem

I actually like Eiland because he is aggressive...

I like Eiland, but I just wonder if he will make the team. I think Richard would get the nod over him.

i also like Eiland... I'm not Richard's biggest fan, he's been burnt a few too many times for my liking.

I think if starters hold up for 1 games, it'll be Okay. But it's perhaps the most shallow position on a team that's already slim behind the curtain

The secondary will not be as good as years past, but it will also not be near as bad as some have hinted. With all the blitzing that will be going on this year, I also expect more pressure, so it may even out.

I think the secondary will be a work in progress until close to the halfway point of the season. Eventually things will settle down and players will know their place and what they have to do.

We won't be as good as the years when we had the Top 3 Defense, but I don't see them falling past 15th best. I like Schulters and Jones, I hope they last!!!

One advantage for Eiland over Richard is....

Eiland does have more top end speed. I believe Eiland runs in the 4.5 range or better and was a track star in South Carolina. Please let me know if you have any information on that. I may be wrong there.
