During the game, Phil and Jim made mention that our D is the oldest in the league. How do we fix this? Who do you think goes? Here's what I think:

DE-Taylor
DT-Traylor
DT-Vickerson/Wright/or someone else
DE-Carter
OLB-Draft pick or FA
ILB- Thomas
OLB-Crowder
CB-Poole
CB-Daniels
FS-Draft Pick or FA
SS-Draft Pick or FA

Obviously I based this off of a 4-3 scheme but that means the following guys are gone or on the bench:

Holliday-Hopefully he stays. He's played well!
Spragan-Doesn't really make a difference IMO
Madison-Time to move on. He's still good but not worth the money IMO
Zgoning-He's kind of old.
Junior Seau-It's time

What do you think?

I agree for the most part, but I don't really see us getting rid of Madison with the way his contract is, and I hope they keep Schulters

I really think we should explore trading Madison for a pick, or a young DB. He's not going to get any better, and some team may need him for a one or two year stint (ala Kansas City) for their championship run. We may be able to get a 3rd or fourth.

i think they will get younger through the draft. Only FA on defense should be a cb. Draft a outside LB and have Wright and vickerson next year in the DT rotation.

It's a thing people like to call the DRAFT. you can't get players any younger than that. If this years draft is a sign of things to come, then i can't wait until next year. Saban didn't so to bad at free agency either.

Ideally, we'll get another Nose Tackle type we can rotate. Zgonina doesnt really fit the mold, and Traylor is too old to rely solely on.

Hopefully the Dolphins can promote/develop/sign/draft a 6'4" 290+ pound DE/DT who can take over for Holliday. He is solid rotational material, but he doesnt need to be starting.

We need a Strongside linebacker. Someone who can play up close to the line, take on Tight Ends, etc. Seau is getting older and injury prone, Spragan is just a guy, and Crowder is a better weakside/interior guy.

We need a new cornerback. Will Poole can probabaly be starting quality, but I'd like to get some more people in just in case.

We need a new Strong Safety, too.

Please god focus on the Offense for a change. This D needs upgrading making the haste slowly while we zero in on the O.
