Tannehill's fall has been perplexing... During that New England game last year he looked like he finally put it all together to show a glimpse of his high potential. Things were looking up. But since that game, the bottom has completely fallen out in his game. Doesn't even look like the same QB. I thought the 2 game slide to end the season was mostly due to the horrid OL performance, but I can't explain the continued regression into this year... It almost seems like his confidence is shot without Sherman around to coddle him.

He has been far worse in this system than under Sherman's. I thought this system was supposed to be QB friendly? It seems like it is exposing some of his accuracy problems. But today, he was actually alright with his accuracy for the most part. But drives continued to stall, and he just crumbled in the 4th quarter.

Is he starting to undergo the Henne shellshock syndrome?

Agreed. If were being real here, Tannehill has had one good 2nd half vs the Patriots. The same team that put up 10 pts on Oakland today and was mishap fumble away from losing to a comeback from rookie David Carr.

No, he's always sucked. He has had a couple decent games shielding him because people think he's supposed to be good. Unfortunately, he'll never be the quarterback we need.

I was speaking about the late season game against NE last year. He wasn't good against NE this year. But last year, he looked AWESOME agains the Patriots, especially that last game-winning drive. We were all sky high after that game thinking our QB had arrived and we were on our way to the playoffs, only to have the rug pulled out from under us (like always) in the weeks to come.

I used to play golf. I was mostly terrible at it but every round I'd hit two or three really good shots. I was horribly inconsistent. On days when I could drive the ball, the irons didn't work. And on days when the irons worked, tee shots would end up in the woods. Most days I putted well but occasionally even that would escape me for an afternoon. Perhaps once or twice a year I'd put together a really good round. When you added it all up, while I wasn't the worst guy on the course at any given time, I certainly wasn't a good golfer. Tannehill plays quarterback like I played golf.

Eventually, I discovered the joys of kayaking and gave my clubs to my brother. Tannehill should get a kayak.

Short version, in my opinion:

In today's NCAA/NFL landscape, it may not be possible to transform someone from a WR to an acceptable NFL caliber starting QB midway through their college career.

There have been plenty of examples where I stated there was nobody with a college to NFL starting QB path quite like Tannehill. In that, I stated that he'd had fewer starts than any starter in the NFL.

What was in the back of my head was "is he too far along developmentally to make that change?" In other words, when does a dog become too old to teach it new tricks, as far as a QB goes?

I think we might have our answer. Tannehill might have hit his ceiling...simply because he was too far along in his development when he switched to QB in college.

Good comparison. Spot on.

Tannehill was mediocre in the Pats game.

18/32, 178 yards, 56.3% completion rate, 5.6 yds/attempt, 2 TDs, 1 INT, 79.9 passer rating.

Not exactly stellar numbers.

What was impressive was the running game, which racked up nearly 200 yds on the ground, with the RBs averaging over 5 yds/carry.

Edit: Sorry, I thought we were talking about this year's Pats game. Nevermind.

I started drinking more on the course to make golf fun ('cause I suck). It worked. Unfortunately I can't drink enough to make watching the Dolphins fun.

Are you sure Tannehill doesn't already have a kayak? His performance could be described as:

Was that really his stat line for that game?? I remember it being much better. I guess it was a 2nd half thing. (sorry SOS). I think I was just blinded by that last drive...

He's talking about last years game.

Interesting question...it's possible he was just maxed out in philbins system...I find that hard to believe with the decision making I see in the passing game even in this new o but the execution has fallen off...

Depressing, isn't it? I can drive 250-275 yards, straight as an arrow. I'm decent on the greens. I'm absolutely tragic with wedges.

My clubs have been unused in my garage for years.

Tannyhill and his wife should go back to Texas pick their toof gaps with wheat.
