I know a lot of you are probably thinking this is a stupid question, but I really wanna know how Pat White makes the Wildcat better for us. I know Pat can throw the ball and gives us more options that way but is White really going to be the one taking snaps in the Wildcat??? If so doesn't that hurt the running aspect of it? White isn't nearly as good of a runner as Ronnie Brown. Also there was some element of surprise when we ran the Wildcat before because it was our basic personell and teams didn't know we were running it til we lined up for it. Now when they see Pat White trotting onto the field they know something is coming. Idk, I guess I just want an opinion on how exactly this is going to work and improve upon our 2nd offense lol.

If White is used as a WR some(which I expect he wll be), the element of surprise will still be there.

Maybe White won't be taking the snaps, that could still be Ronnie. White could end up taking over Ricky's spot in the formation. If he hands off to White, it could still end up being a pass or a run.

He doesn't have to be under center in the wildcat to be a weapon. He could be used on a reverse/pass option from the WR position that Pennington used to take.

But I do believe that they will move away from having Brown under center and instead move him to the position that Ricky used to be in. Having White in that position will freeze the DB's which will, in turn, make the running aspect of the Wildcat more explosive.

Basically, defenses were starting to figure out that to stop the wildcat all they needed to do was blitz everyone. Having White where Brown used to be expands the big play capability of the formation.

I think there is a good chance he will line up as WR some of the time. Basically it puts 11 guys on the field and all of them are of use (Pennington = nothing as WR)

I think White takes the snaps, it just adds so many more threats to the formation. Anytime a safety cheats up the big play is there

So it basically just helps by being able to pass more out of the formation because even if he takes ricky's spot it hurts the run element of it because RW is going to make more plays with his legs than Pat White. Well I guess maybe not since teams can't oversell on the run too much knowing Pat could launch one on them.

Pat White will help the Wildcat offense by adding to its versatility. His ability to throw (completed 65% of his passes last season) and run (over 4,400 yards rushing) will prevent defense from crowding the line of scrimmage. If he can learn to run a few routes well, team will not know when we will go to the Wildcat formation. He can be in the game at the same time with either Chad thus preventing teams from saying, Pat White is in the game so the Dolphins must be going to the Wildcat formation.

If we can run the Wildcat from our base formation, we will be able to use our wide receivers more and that in itself is a good thing. I think that is one of the reasons Sparano visited Urban Meyers earlier this year. To see how his version of the spread offense relates to wildcat offense the Dolphins uses.

Pennington may offer nothing as a WR but teams still have to account for him. Also, Pennington showed on several occasions that he is a willing, albeit not very good, blocker.

If White is taking the snaps, is it then not just a shotgun formation with an un-even line?

White will be used everywhere. He can take the snap, line up wide, or fill rickys role....Any way you slice it the kid adds the passing threat. You cant just blitz everyone the way the Ravens did last yr bc white has the arm to go deep if he choses to. He could take the nap and follow Ronnie as a runner....hell who knows maybe we'll run the option....the way i see the pick is White will definately have some kind of role. I think it was awful high to take him, but barring injury he is a sure bet in the 2nd rd. Not too often you can get a no fail guy in the 2nd.

Thanks nub you're the only one Ive seen talk about white as a WR. This may be their thought for him all along. It will also free up a spot that would have been the third string qb......... Beck haters rejoice.:rolleyes2:

Pat White also makes Ginn better. White's a run threat and can chuck it deep. Teams will have to keep the safety deep to account for White's arm. White should be in on 7 to 8 plays a game either taking the hike as a qb, end around threat and running back.

I agree. I can't understand how people are thinking that White is going truly challenge at the QB position. This organization will be dedicated to Henne. Cutting Beck and making White a 3rd string QB would limit the use of Pennington and Henne for they wouldn't be able to re-enter the game. If you want to utilize White NOW.. you need to make him a receiver. A la Randell El, Hines Ward.

Not I'm not saying that White won't get snaps at the position. But White is going ti be a multiple purpose weapon. Teams were already getting upto speed on our wildcat formation. White adds an element that Brown simply can't provide. An accurate passing attack out of the position. Brown is a bruising runner. I expect White to be a little more elusive.

The guys at the senior bowl.. on a team of collegiate stars was named him captain. The guy was 2 time MVP of bowl games. The guy is a gamer...

Looking forward to seeing how he develops. One thing for sure is... we certainly won't see it during the preseason. It's going to be a long wait.

Good question. I think he will stay on the field at times and will play WR or in the slot. When Chad Pennington goes out wide, he lacks the threat or ability to be a reciever. In the Ravens game, he lined up at wide out and was jammed hard....and that was pretty much the end of the wildcat in that game. Sparano doesn't want Pennington getting hurt. Drafting QB's in back to back drafts in the second round does seem odd to me.

White is a scrambling QB isn't he?
