Hey guys...

I believe Saban will be very successful in this league.. the only thing, is that we simply don't have his players "in place" yet. As Parcells said (I believe), "You can make chicken salad out of chicken ****." Saban simply can't use complicated schemes because he has to work with what we currently have. In any case, how far are we from being an elite team?

QB ? I see thread after thread about this.. I personally am fed up with Gus, but he is the best option we have.. and if he put Sage in there.. what message would that send to the veteran players? They aren't getting any younger...
Thats probably why he hasn't.. Sage probably isn't (much) better if he even is better to begin with. I personally am on the Croyle (Alabama qb) bandwagon.. haha.

Secondary --> How will the return of Will Poole help us? That is the biggest shame IMO.. the kid showed such great potential... and he is SORELY missed! I personally thought K. THomas was serviceable... and Howards needs to get the hell out of here.

O-Line.... what are we going to do with this? Say we bring in F.A.... and draft as well... it will still take time for the new players to gel - since we practically have the same sorry O-Line that we had last year!

I think we are pretty much set in all the other areas... but how long do you think it will take to be an elite team, capable of making the playoffs and maybe make a run for the S.B. and of course, why?

2 more drafts and free agencys

On another note... as for Matt Roth... has anyone else noticed how under the radar he has been? I knew he was a project with short arms... but man, I can't remember one big play aside from that interception in pre-season lol... I thought that was kind of disappointing.

The great and mysterious Rosco P. Coltrain figures for sabe to draft one moer time plus a good free agent signing and we will zoom our way to the top of the afc east then to the playoffs. this is just my opinion but we need to get some top draft picks this year and then next year add a few good players and we should be in buisness. this is why i didnt want to go 8-8 this year . some experts are saying that nick should shoot for better draft picks this year and then next year we should be ok.

Yeah, nobody is perfect, and Saban is likely to swing and miss a few times over the years.

But - don't give up on Roth just yet. He may, at least, be a servicable backup, and provide DL depth over the next few years.

Saban's D relies heavily on the safeties. I believe we need Saban players at S and QB. Other than that we just need the usual reloading.

I personally think Roth is being groomed as a 3-4 DE. But he will need to pack on some pounds for that. Or he may be being groomed to take over at LE when Kevin Carter leaves. I personally didn't like the pick and wished we would've went with a 3-4 OLB speed rusher but it's Roth's rookie year and he is stopping the run adequately enough to get playing time. So atleast he's on the field as opposed to some of our past 2nd rounders. (Moore)...:fire:

Could you imagine if we picked Odell Thurman in the 2nd AND Channing Crowder in the 3rd?! We'd be set at LB for years.

2 more drafts and we are set to becoming a stardom team better than the MArino Days, with some young free agent additions were all but good, the sad thing is No ZT and JT and No Junior seau

I like Brodie Croyle as well and believe the team could win with him. Before all is said and done, he may end up being a 2nd round pick. As to your question, I think it's going to take at least two more years for Saban to get enough of his kind of player in the system. If Saban can put together the pieces quickly then maybe Jason Taylor and Zach Thomas can still make major contributions.

I still think there are a few more problem areas besides qb, offensive line and the secondary. With Seau on his last legs and Thomas on the wrong side of 30, the Dolphins need some young linebackers. Eddie Moore's injury makes this even more important. Also, I a young stud DT is a pretty big need.
