The Miami Dolphins have taken an all-in approach with Ryan Tannehill as the team’s franchise quarterback, and that stance is indeed justified.
The franchise invested the eighth pick in the 2012 NFL Draft on the inexperienced Texas A&M starter, who produced a 81.7 passer rating last season, which had him ranked as the 24th best quarterback in the NFL.The franchise has invested 32 starts into his career, and will probably give Tannehill another 16 with the hope that he will be a top 16 quarterback by the end of the coming season. But the reality is, as talented as Tannehill is, he isn’t there yet.In fact, he’s not even close to being in the NFL’s upper echelon of passers. There are arguably six elite quarterbacks in the NFL, and those individuals are Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers, Philip Rivers and Ben Roethlisberger. Those perennial Pro Bowlers prop up whatever squad they are on, and usually have their teams in playoff contention, and if not in pursuit of a Super Bowl appearance annually. Then there is the second tier of quarterbacks like Eli Manning, Matt Ryan, Tony Romo, Alex Smith, Matt Stafford, Jay Cutler, Carson Palmer and Joe Flacco. Some of them are aged, some are declining, a few are game managers, and some are inconsistent. But there’s little debate that each is better than Tannehill right now. Their paychecks certainly testify on their behalf. That brings us to a total of 14 quarterbacks who without debate are better than Tannehill, whose fourth-quarter passer rating (64.3) ranked him 35th in the NFL last season. And we haven’t even gotten into the young guns yet.

HAHA Rothlisberger all his success is from his Defense he wouldn't do **** anywhere else. Since that D has gotten old and not in the top 5 anymore he hasn't been back to the playoffs dudes completely overrated he's been surrounded by studs his whole career. Lets not forget he won a SB with a 13.7 QB Rating (something like that either way it was worst of all time) and his second Super Bowl win was because James Harrison had a pick 6 before half or they would have been blown out. Elite my ass!!

It's nearly impossible to compare apples to apples. Give me a motorcycle and I'll win the Tour De France.

Terrible article. Should be on bleacher report in the "I just say random **** and try to make it make sense" portion

Ah you got me. I saw Dallas News and thought it was a real columnist, then I opened the link and saw that it was an Omar article disguised as a Dallas News article.

That name is cringe worthy to be mentioned a tier below the game's elite QBs.
