How good is our secondary in comparison to the best in the leauge?
It really all depends.........ya, I know, earth shattering insight there lol.....
Travis Daniels stepped up big time last year as a rookie. To me, he looks to have to saavy that alot of veteran DB's do. He felt his way thru his rookie campaign and to me he showed what it takes, regardless of any of his physical limitations. Will Poole is the "X" factor. When he was a rookie, he had me excited playing like he did. Much like Daniels, he's a gamer and shows the toughness I like out of a DB. Yet, he's coming back from that knee tear.
I pretty much watch all the NFL games every weekend and I've always liked what I've seen out of Will Allen, yet another tough guy and, as somebody pointed out in another thread, he really didn't give up that many YPC if you scratch out the massive games put on by Santana Moss against him. But let's not pretend here, you want to know how your DB is going to stack up against a reciever like that.
I notice that we've got a ton of blue-collar types in our secondary. Renaldo Hill played extremely well in AZ, but sort of drowned out in his 1 year stint in Oakland (big surprise there huh)........ Deke Cooper and Tavares Tillman, again, blue collar guys. I think Yeremiah Bell has the potential to make plays if they use him in blitz packages and utilize his athleticism. He started to come on at the end of the season.
I didn't see much of Goodman so I can't really comment.
I'm optimistic though.........I like all the signings........there's a good combination of youth and experience there and I can't reiterate how much it helps us the way that Travis Daniels panned out because he's going to be even better this year.
